social situations..how'd u get out?

When I used to work for this big company in Sydney every single week they used to organise birthday parties or a BBQ and there was so much junk to choose from too. So to keep my diet I used to say that I was actually on some sort of medication to stop people from asking why I was not eating or I used to walk around with a plateful of goodies and a drink in hand just like Velvett said and accidentally misplace it somewhere. :)

I do it when I go to birthday parties and it works.

I usually can't resist - unlike Jen, I LUV frosting. :) But often I do resist, by just walking by it without a second thought. If I give it a second thought, I will end up with a jumbo slice o' sugar. :)

If you can't walk by, you have to stay in the room ..... you could play "hostess". If you are busy making sure people have plates, napkins, know where everything is, making sure the trash gets thrown away, etc etc - then you are too busy to eat.

For some reason I LUV tub frosting -- the kind you buy at the grocery store but hate it on bakery cakes....Go figure! :confused:

DG -- good idea on the "hostess" part. I like it!!

Could you also maybe get a piece of cake & chop it up & move it around with your fork -- basically mutilate it so it looks like you're eating it but aren't?? Then, misplace it or toss it??
 
same w/ me (icing) the bakery cakes have way too much sugar, the tub kind, has more cream so its tastes nice and fatty and slippery and sweet, while the bakery icing is basically sugar , water, and eggs. Too much for my tongue. blech. i hate it.
 
Hi ladies, I'm new here, I read more then post but I admire the motivation some of you (most of you) have. I work in an office and there's always cookies/cake, etc. I'm just getting back serious into the gym and dieting and I just keep it out of work ALL the time. If I cheat it's home on Sunday (which I'm not doing right now) so this way they stop asking me or putting it on my desk. If you do it once they seem to push it all the time. I actually made a caramel pecan cheesecake for someone's birthday and didn't touch it, it's not easy. Once I'm in my diet I don't want to break it because once I taste sweets I crave them.

Welcome! I hear you on too much info! Isn't it great? ;) Plan on spending HOURS reading old threads - they are FULL of lots of info! :)

Jen - I can eat a whole can of frosting ..... my hubby thinks it is DISGUSTING! I love vanilla tub frosting the most.

BUT, I do like the sweet buttercream cake frosting on bakery cakes. Give me a corner piece! :chomp:
 
hey guys...just thoght of another idea...for those in similar work situations..ill bring cake and tub of strawberries..which most people like..so ill eat the strawberries to distract from the lack of cake eating!
 
I am not going to get any work done anymore :)

I make a fruit dip if I want to be bad, it's fluff, cream cheese (you can use light) and cinnamon. It's not as bad as most cakes/cookies and with fruit it's sweet and a great dessert.

I have a bad sweet tooth, if I touch candy/cake, I'm done. I can eat a pound of jelly bellies or swedish fish easy, so I have to just stay away.
