anaerobic vs aerobic

to burn fat adipose tissue the body needs to break it down to fatty acids and transport. not an efficient process and one not done without the presence of oxygen (hence lower heart rate - if u cant carry a conversation while doing your cardio it is too intense). if your cardio is intense the body needs immediate energy and once glycogen stores are used up it will seek protein and muscle.
Oh so you mean the body never uses fats for fuel when glucose isn't available eh? And really, you're going to refute an article based solely on documented true scientific studies, ones that they even list rght in the article that you can go read yourself? That's like having god appear to you, doing some neato trick to prove his existence, and you still denying it. There comes a time when ya just have to let it go.

Listen, I believe you both.

I usually have my heart rate set constant at 160 and I can hold a conversation fine.

But other times like the other day, on random mode on a cross trainer (is this HIIT, I don't know) I got my heart rate upto about 175, even though the intensity was dropping - don't worry, i'll be setting it on an easier mode.

where did i say that again?

for every "theory" there are articles for and against it. u should know that. i am not here to debate u.

what "scholarly" journal is this from again?

The article I gave you cited 13 different medical studies for it's sources, therefore I take the article as current truth as far as science is concerned.

i mentioned the fat burning comment because you said "if your cardio is intense the body needs immediate energy and once glycogen stores are used up it will seek protein and muscle." and that's not true, there's never a time the body will not be using fat for fuels at all, and people also need to get away from the fat burning zone thing. Please read that article again, and all parrts of it, it goes into detail about how people doing high intensity exercise, if they can do it over low intensity, can experience a greater fat loss effect throughout the entire day by doing it for half the time as LISS type cardio.

Seriously though dudes,

The only thing that bugs me, is the fact marathon runners are skinny as hell, whereas 100m sprinters are absolutely jacked.

I don't really know much about their training but it says alot..
