RTD protien shakes or Beef jerky...

Is beef jerky a better source of protien throughout the day than the ready to drink protien shakes?

The beef jerky has 28 g. of protien compared to about 40 in the rtd shake. however the beef jerky only has 2 g of fat and 150 cal and only 4 g carbs.

not sure on all of the nutrition facts of the protien shake but i know they are normally loaded with carbs and calories.

The problem with Beef Jerky is it is loaded with sodium. Take a look around at the different protein drinks available. There are a lot of powders and already premade drinks (EAS for instance) that have 2g carbs and 1g sugar.

Do yourself a favor and spend $20 at Wal-Mart and buy your own dehydrator and make your own Jerky. You can use turkey, chicken or beef and you will be able to control the ingreedients and sodium level.

if you drink TONS of water your ok, do half shakes 1/2 jerky.

Jerky is way too expensive for someone eating a lot of calories. Saying that, don't drink whey shakes all day. I have tried drinking 12 whey shakes a day, and although I only have anecdotal evidence to back this up, I believe whey will make you fat, and you will also feel like puking drinking that much. I would make a custom protein blend (mostly casein, some good fats, and maybe some oatmeal as well if you are bulking) on proteinfactory.
