i'm watching 'the unbelievable' right now and i notice that on presses and rows he uses his bodyweight a lot and doesn't really lock the weight out. is there an advantage to doing it this way? is the lockout not really that important for hypertrophy so you can use heavier weights for the rest of the lift w/ 'bad' form?

I think it has to do with constant strain on the muscle because if he locked out the muscle would relax. That's what I thought but could be wrong. Seems to work for him regardless.

Yea, I noticed his form wasn't exactly text book perfect. I think sacrificing a little form may help in overall mass building since you will need to use more "stabilizers."

Just a thought, I could be wrong.

I've seen him train many times. I've always been pretty impressed with the strictness of his movements. I hven't seen him do any bodyweight exercises other than pullups.

What do they show him doing in the vid?

Basically a week in ronnie's life.

He was almost completely straight when doing barbell rows at the top of the movement ...

I just watched ronnie's deadlifting for some inspiration / form for tommorrow session and i'm amazed at that little thing he uses to prop up the bar when he's putting plates on it.

Why the hell doesnt my gym have this? I swear after a back breaking deadlifting set i'm totally out of breath and it takes probably half my energy to get the damn plates on and off the bar.

I think i have a new little project for me to make this weekend. Now i have to undergo stares from the yuppie crowd as i bring in more stuff i built at home for the gym haha. You should have seen the look i got when i brought in my rack deadlifting platform in. Looked like a huge wooden briefcase, complete with handle.

Check in B-Folds sig. He has a link to pics of a device like that. A guy he trains with made it for him. It's really nice.

or you can roll one side of the loaded bar up onto a 10 lb plate (closest plate in) and unload it just the same.
