Rolling During Shrugs

My questions were not meant to be rude. I really don't appreciate the fact that you asked questions yet you get pissed off with the answers that you get.

If you answer my questions...you will probably see that rolling them will not help to meet your goals. If you don't have any goals then good luck with getting anywhere with this or any sport. If your training does NOT specifically meet your goals...then why do it?

If your goal was to bring out your lower traps...or the rear of them...I would have suggested doing dbell rows while facing an incline bench.

Remember that this is a friendly board...a board of shared information. If you do not like the response you get...don't ask the question.

Hoss, have you everlifted in the gym??? The you will know that the traps are vertical moversof the humerus scapula and even the cranium. Hence rolling will not improve the effect fo shrugs. Rolling will help your rhomboids to contract your scapulas and very minumally delts. On the rotator cuff deal basically the 'cuff' was meant to rotate your shoulder, byt locking the position they are in and forcing them in a non naturall alignmentn will fuck them up...

P.S. have some class on the board you asked a question, so get ready to hear all types of responses. You might not agree with them but give the other membes some respect, at least they botheredto help you out....

No need to argue...

ya know what? just do them. I wont take any responsibility for your injuries, but do them for a couple of months and see if you can still raise your arms above your head.

Hoss, you do not need to get angry and rude to people who are giving you good advice and helping you.

The shrug advice I gave you is good-I have done sets of shrugs with 300+ pounds for 30+ reps in a set and dont act like a ingrate to me and the people here to help you.

I agree with with the others too. Do whatever you want-roll your shoulders like the Champ said and in a few months you will post a thread like ....Help my aching shoulders!!

Hoss- I DID ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IN MY FIRST POST- I SAID THAT ROLLING WILL FUCK UP YOUR SHOULDERS.

Hoss... Do I know you???? I find this thread amusing b/c I posted an original thread about rolling b/c I have a friend who refuses to believe me that rolling is bad for your rotatorcuffs... he insists that rolling is the way to go.

He also shrugs about 2/3's the weight I do... so maybe he doesn't feel the strain in the shoulders I start to get w/ more weight...

I love working traps, and have found that the advice I got in my thread, (bend foward a little to hit traps in the middle a little better) helped me out a lot...

The other reason I ask if I know you... is b/c my friend is also very angry... always... and I could see him starting a similar thread in rebuttle to mine, and having a similar reaction to others statements...

all I gotta say is, chill out & be patient bro... we're all on here to learn, it usually takes a while before enough people respond to your thread that you'll get a really good answer.

Plain and simple rolling will cause damage in your rotator cuffs. The trap muscle contains an up/down range of motion. I guess my question would be why would you do something that will not help you achieve your goals in any way, but possibly hurt you in the process? While your at it why don't you rotate your shoulders on bench press as well?

Hey, search works. Doesn't look like this subject has been touched on in the last 6 months or so; so other newbies mignt benefit from the why not to roll your sholders thread.

Was going to ask the same question, since I did see one site (didn't bookmark it) that actually had regular and rolling shrugs listed. I've only seen a few people roll their sholders during shrugs at the gym; one was in good shape, but worked out like a rabbit on speed with bad form on everything, so I wasn't about to follow his workout. The other guys just must not know better.
