Protein At Night??

shortstack

Banned
hey if you where trying to cut up but preserve as much muscle as possible, would it be beneficial to drink a protien shake (no carbs ect.) like 2- 3 times in the middle of the night? cause i wake up about 3 times a night anyways and it wouldnt mean nothing to guzzle one down and go back to bed, lol. ??

Once during the night (unless you sleep for 24 hours :D ) should be enough

i drink protein shakes whenever i think of them.

i get up at least once to piss during the night and i have the powder and keg cups next to the pisser ready to go :)

On nearly all of the threads it says eat as we know every two to three hours to stop muscle breakdown, yet when people post should they have a prot drink during the night as they wake up anyway, which would seem to be the logical thing to do, hence not going 7 or 8 hrs without protein instide, everyone is saying, no don't worry. It this thinking right, I posted the same question last week and got the same answer, don't worry about it. Even if it was only on training nights it must be a good idea,,,,, yes / no. Getting confused now.

If you're awake anyway, it's not going to hurt....but you're much better off getting a good night's rest (e.g., don't set your alarm for a midnite protein shake). Try eating a slower releasing protein (in terms of digestion) prior to bed, such as caseinate...cottage cheese, etc.,
