My training split for a lagging chest

Mr_Pincushonass

New member
mon- Chest only (To kick the shit out of it)
tues- Back/Biceps/forearms
wed- Shoulders/Triceps
Thurs- Rest
fri- Chest only (Also to kick the shit out of it)
sat- Legs

Should I change something, because it sounds good to me. What do you think?

i don't like doing back and biceps the same day, that is 2 pulls in the same day, back and triceps, pull push,
chest and biceps push pull, and same week chest by itself
shoulders calves
legs forearms

Thats WHY I do back and biceps the same day. I do know how to limit my biceps involvment in back moves, but you can never eliminate it. Why not capatilize on this and combine the two?

combining the 2 is a mistake, and many people do it. If you do back and biceps the same day you are tiring the biceps quickly. You can have a much better bicep workout on your chest day, as a chest is a push, and the bicep is a pull. Why tire the muscle out more on an exercise, when you can do heavier by doing the oppsite before hand.

no its not a mistake.....i dont do back/bis together havent done that for a long long time.....also there is NO best training split..see what works for you

ultra it is, you are tiring a muscle out

example
if i do chest and triceps on the same day

benching 350 for 8 reps
then going to triceps
180 on pull downs for 8 reps

if i did back and triceps I can do 20lbs more easier so it could be 200 pounds cause my triceps aren't as worn out from a back day then a chest day

many people who have had hard time making their arms grow, switched to this and have much better results, my arms wouldnt grow for sh** till I did this

yes i know....that might happen to you but like i said there is NO best training split...some people get the best tri workouts when they hit tris with chest.....so see what works for you..i do bis and tris together and i like it...i wouldnt mind trying new things which i will later on

"ultra it is, you are tiring a muscle out "

isnt that the objective of working out a muscle?

now two schools of thought

if you do bi's and back same day bis tire out and you cant work your back like you should

solution do back exercises before specific bi exercises

if you do back one day and bis another day you train bi's basically twice a week so you over train the bis

solution seperate the back and bi workouts as much as you can

now there are other ways to look at it but riddle me this

there are some people out there who grow best on high rep low weight exercises

what ultragainz is saying is unless your mike mentzer come back you should always temper you advice. we have found no absolutes in bodybuilding except that intensity is required to progress

I like to tire my muscle out! Mind you, I'm NOT exhausting my bi's before I give them any direct work. Yes, I can't lift as heavy as I could have if I had not done back first. However, the reduction is slight, the reduction is from working those suckers anyway, and I believe it's how hard you work the muscle, not the specific poundage you pushed.

Besides, I'm much more interested in building my back right now.

Ultragainz said it, there is NO best training split.

if you wanna grow better you do it like this, you can hit that muscle on the correct exercise heavier this way, no question about it, you may think you got a better workout on a chest tricep day because it has been killed with so many reps, but thats not hitting the right muscle fiber to grow, when you could have hitten it heavier with a back tricep day. You cant do the same weight for the same amount of reps why cheat the tricep and bicep out for their full potential, when you can get a solid workout on both body parts.

chest is killing the triceps so when you do triceps next they are much more tired, cant do as heavy
back is killing the biceps so when you do biceps next they are much more tired, cant do as heavy
chest and tri workout
chest good lift tricep ok
chest biceps chest good and biceps good because i didn't do it the same day

why cheat your biceps and triceps makes no sense to me

heck mabey your right

heck mabey your wrong

im glad you found something that works well for you

acneman not just me, everyone that has been lifting that way that switched to it has helped. They have put more inches from this on there arms when they have been stuck

consider this

tbar rows use heavy weight and target the bicepts in a diff way

so heavy weight and different angle... no good for bicept size?

yes it is good for bicep size, and you will grow doing back and biceps on the same day no doubt, all Im saying in this is doing back and tricep and chest and biceps you will grow the triceps and biceps much better.

Do you not agree heavier weight makes you grow, and hits the right muscle fiber? The better you shock the muscle which would be heavier weight the better you grow their is no discussion with this

well if theres no discussion

theres no discussion

screw that here goes

im just saying you may be right

for you

for a lot of people

but not for everybody

hell i think you make a good point

so did mike mentzer but like him your not allowing for something else to work also and mabey better for some genetics

you see what i mean

ps i loved mike mentzer and think he revolutionized bodybuilding but he did not tolerate contrary opinions. his contributions to bodybuilding are huge and not in question.. peace and rest in peace to an intelligent man( and a big mofo in his day)

yea also some have said there tris grow better when they hit it after chest...so bis/trs together are nice but not for everyone...and some people grow better with heavy weight and or low reps...and some grow with high reps like 6-12...some like both

ultra about this

yea also some have said there tris grow better when they hit it after chest...so bis/trs together are nice but not for everyone, I agree totally with that, Im comparing back and biceps to back and triceps vs chest and triceps and chest and biceps

Ok im going to try the push pull method but I want ONE day a week of nothing but chest. This one sucks because there are too many push muscles in a row! Help!

mon- I want this too be a chest only day.
tues- Back/triceps? (triceps will be tired from mon)
wed- shoulders/forearms? (triceps will be too tired for a good shoulder workout)
thurs- Chest/biceps (shoulders will be a bit tired from wed)
fri- Legs

Im confused, help me put this together so that the muscles being used are going to be fresh for that day. Am I just dumb?

There are lots of different training methods and I won't make a blanket statement and say that one is better than another because everyone is different. I will say however that I do not see how in the world any of you guys are training any other muscle on the same ay as back. When I'm done with back, my whole body is tired, same as with legs. Those muscles are so big they fatigue my whole body so I do them on seperate days by themselves. Its my opinion that if your doing any other muscle on the same day as back, then your not hitting back hard enough.

Shock the muscles!

Well I mix it up all the time! I feel like it's all about shocking the muscles, never let them get used to any one work out.

I also think this applies to all not just some.

I do bi's and back one week, tri's and bi's another, chest and bi's or tri's another. This works great and never let's the muscles get comfortable.

My 2 cents.

Well said. The split I alluded to is what I'm doing NOW. If I'm still working the same way in 6 months, sombody shoot me. (Unless of course I keep growing at a rapid rate while using this split.)
