My Crockpot Concoction

Snarling Force

Active member
Hey bros, experimented the other night and it turned out pretty good so I wanted to pass this all along to you all. I'm on so I'm eating so much and I wanted something that was very little work for me, yet yeilded a massive output of high protein, low fat food. This was so easy anyone can do this. Here is what came to me so I threw it all together in the crockpot:

5 lbs Ground Turkey Breast
1.5 lbs 4% Ground Beef
3 cups brown rice
2 cups low sodium chicken broth
2 cups water

Dumped all of this into a crockpot. Made sure my hands were clean then I reached in there and mixed all this stuff up real good so it ends up looking like a big pot of brains with grains of rice everywhere. It will be rather soupy now with all the water but over the course of cooking, it will all be absorbed up. I put the crockpot on low and let it cook overnight while I slept for 8 hours. Woke up to find a very nice concoction that is a great anytime meal and also nice as a quick filler meal in between all the many meals you have to eat throughout the day. Give it a shot. Got to love the crockpot!!

does the rice thicken it up? i was thinking some flour or corn starch would be good in this but rice may be enough to do the trick. don't know about mixing turkey AND ground beef though. sounds like one or the other would be tastier.

Yeah Glennds, the brown rice really thickens up nicely. I threw in the ground beef to add a little flavor since turkey breast is so bland. I'm going to be making a new batch this weekend and I think I'll experiment a little more...

SF skip the turkey breast and beef and try chicken pieces. would go perfect with chicken broth.

if you are using ground beef try beef broth instead. or better yet try beef stew meat, which you can buy precut at supermarket. may want to sear the beef stew meat in hot oil first. more expensive but would give it a better texture and quality taste.

beef goes better with beef broth recipes, and same thing with chicken. give it a try.
