help me I'm confused !!!

As you all know I am in a leaning out/ diet phase. I have read so many times that during dieting you should keep your protein level HIGH, but reduce CALORIES. how do you keep your protein high, while cutting calories ?

This is what I ate yesterday: Is it bad, good, ok ?

7am- egg bagel, 1/2 bananna, protein shake
10-large spinach salad, 3 hard-boiled eggs, olive oil & vinegar
1pm- ritz whole wheat crackers (5) 1 slice fat-free cheese
4- 5 oz. chicken breast, 1 cup beans, 1/2 cup brown rice
7pm- 3 oz tuna, 1 cup green beans
10pm-protein shake, 1 slice whole wheat bread, 1 tbsp. peanut butter

PS: btw, Any ideas for good late night snacks ? sometimes I wake up at like 3 am, and I'm hungry. but I don't want to eat a bad, calorie laden or carb filled snack.

What are some good 3am lite snacks right before you go back to bed ?

Or should I have nothing !!!

ok...Ive posted this for you about elevendyhundred times

bodyweight x 10-12 cals

40p/30f/30c

ex.. 1 pm meal has basically zero protein in it...you can add 30 grams right there

Shadow, So, should I be having protein at every meal ?

Don't mean to sound like a putz, but what does bodyweight x 10-12 cals mean ? how do you figure it out ?

Take what you weigh now & multiply it by 10, then again by 12...

So -- (for example) 100lbs x 10 = 1,000; 100lbs x 12 = 1,200

There's your range....

And by using a site like fitday, you can see how much bang for your buck you can get for your daily cals.... I like to eat a lot, so I always try to choose foods that allow me to be filled with little cals.... Play around with & check out other logs & you'll get ideas..

Divide the total amount of protein for the day by 5 or 6 depending on how many meals u eat, and that's how much protein you should have in each meal.

I would also like to suggest that you browse the several logs that many of us are posting. You will get a general idea on what each meal could look like. It's helped me tremondously to the point, where I know how to tweak.
