Monolift=Xtra lbs. Squat

I was just wondering if anyone thinks that using a Monolft would allow a person to squat more weight? The organizations(USAPL,WABDL) I have lifted in don't use them. They use the jack stands, which I hate. But half the battle for me is backing up and getting set-up and then putting the weight back after the squat. I've never tried a Monolift before, but I think if all I had to do is set-up and squat I may be able to add 50 lbs. or so to my squat. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

It helps but not nearly as much as you think. You might pick up 20lbs or so. Also, it takes a lot of practice to setup in a monolift w/o taking any steps. Most of the people I know needed to practice it before a meet.

I don't know if I can contribute it to the monolift alone, but I certainly squat alot more than I think I can with a monolift. Probably because I don't waste all my energy walking it out.

I will probably be competinng in a meet that uses a monolift, but there is no way I can practice using one before the meet. My gym doesnt have a monolift. Should I try to do anything to prepare, and is there anything I can do?

Yo Zack, I had never used on until last weekend. I had no problem setting up. You just straighten you legs and you are set. I don't see how it could be a hard thing to do.

Thanks. I wont worry about it, then.

get there the night before early and play with the rack height.

it does make a difference. you could just walk out with the weight if that is what you are used to.

as the weight gets higher, the setup makes more and more of a difference.
