Mermaid's Log

I admire you for getting to the gym that early...what time do you have to get up to make it there by 5:15 AM!! My body just doesn't function well in the gym that early! Macros are looking good, nice protein intake! Keep up the good work girl ;) :dance2:

What time zone are you in...reason why I ask is I am in the middle of my Dec. 8th which is ahead of the US and you seem to be finished with your day already!! Just curious :)

I'm living in Australia - I spent 7 years in the US where I met my Australian husband - we moved back to his homeland just over a year ago. I know, it's strange - I've finished my day before the US even starts - you must be in the middle!

Getting up so early is new and difficult. Fortunately I live only 5 mins drive away from the gym so the alarm goes off at 5am, pull on some clothes and away I go. Going to put in more of an effort to do this. And like I said, reading your journal and the other logs on this board and the feedback from the girls, helps to push me in the right direction :)

I'm GENUINELY happy girl!!! :qt: As my son likes to say, kick a** and take names!!!!

Extra bonus for you, you're nearly into the weekend, most of us still have another day to go!

Now if I can just get myself motivated ... maybe I can pull the old "I'll just do a short one," trick again ...

You mentioned making the arm workout more exciting....well, I don't know if it's exciting but have you tried preacher curls or doing some cable curls to add a little variety? ....or one of my faves is db incline curls. Tilt the back of the bench at a 45 angle and let your arms (db's in hands) hang straight to the floor, turn your palms out and do your curls. Elbows pointed to the floor at all times. Head flat to the bench at all times. I LOVE those things!!

Thanks SG, I'll try those :)

Saturday 10 December

Scheduled day off gym and cheat day.

8.30am
Oatmeal protein pancakes
1 tbsp almond butter
1/4 cup blueberries

Went to work - stock taking

12.30pm At local bar
Poached chicken w/smoked salmon
Had the sauce on the side so just dipped fork
About 1 cup fries
1 liter water

5.00pm
A friend came over and we went out for dinner, cocktails and dancing. Went to a Japanese restaurant - the food was fantastic, it's just at the end of our street so will become our weekly cheat except it's not that bad when you eat sashimi and shabu shabu.
8 pieces tuna and salmon sashimi
3 pieces mixed sushi
Chicken/beef shabu shabu
3 small sake

Went to the casino - danced for over an hour - I haven't done that for months! It felt good. Also had many vodka cocktails :mix:

Then it all went pear shaped. On leaving the casino and minding our own business I hasten to add, a group of young drunk guys were hounding us, calling me names, obviously out for trouble. They threw the first punch and P ended up quite badly beaten but then that's easy when there's 3 of them and only 1 of him. I tried to break it up but didn't help much.

I now remember why I don't go to these kind of places anymore. Too many f**kwits around who can't handle the alcohol. I hate meaningless violence and unfortunately you experience it often when going out on the town now. God, I sound just like my mother.

Sunday 11 December

I spent the day cleaning wounds and washing blood out of clothes. I felt so upset and sick that I just couldn't eat. I ended up having eggs on toast about 6pm and that was it.

No gym.

I don't know why I put my whole life in this log. Therapy, I guess.

Oh no, Mermaid, that SUCKS!! SO sorry that you and P had to deal with all that unnecessary violance this weekend. It sounded like your weekend was going so well and you were enjoying yourself until you ran into those drunk idiots...is that really so common where you live? I've only very rarely seen the occasional bar brawl here.

In any case, I hope you feel better

Thanks RT  .

You know, for some reason the English are the worst with this kind of thing and Australians aren't too far behind. A lot of them are just a bunch of angry people when fuelled with alcohol - you may have heard about the soccer and race riots on the news over the past few years. Actually, only last night there were violent race riots south of Sydney.

I must admit, I didn't experience brawling in the US at all in the time I lived there.

But I guess there is some kind of violence wherever you go :(
