Lost my vision from GH

You aren't diabetic.

No diabetic has an A1C of 5.5

I would be more worried about macular degeneration. Go to the doctor.

i've had my retina looked over several times and it is OK. has anyone heard of someone having eye problems due to gh?

So I've had some serious complications from the gh. I have damaged my vision and I think I've done some brain damage. I am unable to function normally. Should I contact the manufacturer? The doctor that prescribed is telling me it's unrelated. I think he is just covering his ass. What should I do???

Ok, can you post the brand name of the GH you were using and the manufactor. You were Rx'd legally so that isn't against board rules. We can start taking shots at it researching and seeing if there is a class action lawsuit against it or something.

Now in regards to your claim of brain damage, can you tell us why you think that?

The brand name is Tev Tropin by Gate Pharma. It was prescribed out of an anti-aging clinic in Florida even though my IGF levels were actually above normal. I thought I was doing the right thing by going with a pharma and not street.

On top of the bizarre vision problems I am having I also lost my night vision. In the dark the bedroom is grainy or snowy (similar to visual snow symptoms). I also have tinnitis. My eyes are also EXTREMELY sensitive to direct light (sunlight, headlight, brake light, street light, etc).

I've been to (no joke) 15 doctors of varying disciplines and they have all told me my eyes are healthy (apart from newly aquired astigmatism and farsightedness - i attribute to the gh). Since it seems some symptoms aren't physical it leads me to believe they are neurological. My CT and MRI came clean, but those are more for obvious physical problems like tumors and aneurysms.

I'm not sure if I should call the manufacturer to tell them about these effects. Something tells me they won't really care. They will tell me to dicuss with my physician, who really doesn't care.

If your body does not work correctly and you are adding something potent such as HGH, yes its posible.
How bad has your vision deteriorated?
Don't wait to hear back from your Dr. just go to walgreens and buy a Blood Glucose kit!
Here is what I use when I am using GH and especially when I am adding IGF:
UltraMini Blood Glucose Monitoring System | OneTouch | Walgreens

Also, I am not saying ignore your dr. just take some initiave if your BG doesn't return to normal after 2 hours from eating than you are becoming type 2 diabetic and yes it would be from the GH! The good thing is that type 2 from GH usually reverses itself. But that wont help your eyesight!

The OP's HbA1c result was 5.5

This is well within the normal range albeit the high end of normal and could possibly indicate that he is in the very early stages of diabetes or what is normally called pre-diabetes.

My HbA1c is 5.7, and I'm considered pre-diabetic in that I read a little high upon waking, yet I have normal levels after eating.

This reading is more useful than any Fasting test or post prandial reading, because it give the average blood sugar reading over the previous 3 months. HbA1c of 5.5 means his blood sugar has averaged out at 118 mg/Dl for the previous 3 months.

I take GH and it increases my FBS (fasting blood sugar) levels by about 10 mg/Dl. Post prandial readings are fine, but I do limit my carbohydrate consumption.

The damage caused to the eyes by excess blood sugar is called diabetic retinopathy. It usually takes around 10 years of impaired blood sugar levels (levels way higher than 5.5) to develope.

I would be quite certain that the deterioration in the OP's eyesight is not related to high blood sugar (with an HbA1c reading as low as 5.5).

If the OP's eyesight disturbances correlate directly to his GH use, I'd be more inclined to look for other causes. The first one that comes to mind is hypertensive retinopathy. High blood pressure can cause damage to the blood vessels in the retina of the eye. GH can definitely increase blood pressure by a large degree, especially if it's taken along with anabolic steroids.

My retinas has been checked out by 5 retinal specialists and they can't find anything. They tell me they're perfectly healthy. My visual acuity is fine (20/20), it's just that I seem to have all the symptoms of someone that has had a bad LASIK surgery - halos, starbursts, snowy vision as well as tinnitus. I can't drive at night and daylight is bad for starbursts. My symptoms have been getting progressively worse since the incident. I have never heard of anyone having these symptoms with any eye disease. I fear that my eyes are ruined for life.

The doctors keep telling me I don't have diabetes.

I had Lasik 7 years ago. No side effects like you are describing. There has to be something they are missing. Don't give up. Have you contacted the clinic that prescribe the GH? Maybe there are others under their care having issues. Be a pain in the ass - don't want and don't give up.

I sure do hope you get to the bottom of it...soon.

I spoke with the prescribing doctor a few days after it began and he assured me that it wasn't gh related. I think he was just trying to calm me down and cover his ass. They asked me for the lot number of the last vial I used, but that was the last I heard from them. They went from pestering me to buy more to not communicating with me at all. They kept telling me 2iu's a day would not be enough for ANY side effects. I don't know what recourse I have, if any. I'm sure they will stick with the same story. I'm sure it's just some crooked doctor with a team of savvy salesmen. Not sure if going to the pharma might get me some answers. Today I met a neuro-ophthalmologist who has asked me to get a lumbar puncture to check on the health of my brain. I'm going broke trying to figure this out. Luckily I can work from home for the time being since I can't drive.

I believe you can get a side effects from 2iu per day.

My story was that I started GH at 2iu per day for 2 weeks and then increased to 4iu (2 x 2iu) per day. I was experiencing so many negative side effects at 4iu per day that after a month I dropped down to 2iu. After a further month at 2iu per day I was so miserable from side-effects that I discontinued using it.

I stayed off for 6 weeks (even after a 6 week layoff I still had some nerve damage in 3 fingers [loss of feeling]).

I have since started using a 3x per week PWO protocol injecting intramuscularly rather than sub-cutaneously. I'm not getting side effects apart from tingling in the fingers.

The point of this story is that I believe that you can get side effects on such a low dose.

Too many people talk about IU's in vial. I believe people who inject large doses with no side effects are using low potency products. I use pharmaceutical grade which is sold for medical use. It only comes in 2iu or 4iu vials. Any vials larger than that are sold exclusively for athletes and bodybuilders and could be suspect in terms of actual dose.
