Lions and tigers don't eat carbs.

Well, I know this is not a steroid topic, but this place has the most people, so..
Here is a question that has been bugging me for days, you know, just stays there in the back of the mind, and keeps popping up every now and then: Predators only eat meat, and they are lean, and have energy to run, hunt, and kill. So why not just eat the protein containing food? I mean, of course it is good to also eat some veggies now and then, but in the animal world, it's for some reason different, e.g. I have never seen a tiger eating apples. I wonder why?

Well, the question is: Why not eat just meat, like other predators? They don't seem to lose muscle tissue, quite the opposite, actually.

Because we aren't carnivores. We are omnivores. Also, our bodies need vitamins and minerals that aren't found in meats. Predatory cats most likely don't have the same nutritional requirements.

That's the way they are designed. You are not a tiger...uh...only I am a tiger. :) Seriously though, meat has fat and protein, and most of what one needs to survive. As for gorillas, they pretty much have to eat all damn day as far as I know. Pretend like I have a British accent for this next part and wear spectacles.
Gorillas are omnivorous. They rely on a myriad of different food sources for their survival. In order to maintain their exceedingly large stature, they must feed rather frequently. Their diverse diet fuels their muscles with the raw power they require to climb high into the canopy of the rainforest...

I'm on CrumCake's diet (week 6) which is sort of like being a carnivore. My bodyfat is down to about 7% or less. Lean as fuck.

Tigers sometimes do get carbs by accidentally swallowing some grass while munching down on zebras and shit.

gorillas also eat thier own shit. Maybe we should try it and see if we get big and strong like a gorilla.

Don't be afraid to exercise that gray matter betwix your ears now and then.

This is a anabolic discussion board. Maybe that one should have been posted in the zoological-human comparison discussion board.

Sometimes I feel like I work in a sewer plant trying to sift through shit to find a decent thread.

in adtion to the facts above...

humans are the only mammal that cannot manufacture vitamin c - and so they must consume it from their diet.

Meat contains very little vitamin c.

And while we are at it lets add bears to the list, they dont eat a lot of meat for thier size and sleep for months and lose very little muslce mass. In the end, lions, tigers, bears etc have little to do with how us humans consume food. While taking on some of their characteristics sure would be nice, it wont happen any time soon.
