Legs Tonight - Knee Problem

Okay, now tonight was leg night. I felt really good, but something worried me on my squats. I used good form and all, but everytime I went the full squat (ass-to-floor) I heard a crack in my right knee (both knees, but moreso in the right). I was wondering what this is, if anyone's had it before, and if it's a bad thing?

I heard it could just be cartlidge moving or something, and nothing serious. I really have to know.

My knees don't hurt in the least though, but still, the body can be deceiving.

When I do squats, it sounds like velcro through 90% of the motion. I mean, its damn loud. I had surgery on my right knee a while ago, but my left knee is actually louder. Its more annoying than anything. There's a few things it could be. Get it checked out bro. Does it hurt?

check to see if your toes point the same direction as your femur. if not, you could have some slight movement in your lower leg/ patella. you need good patellar tracking to minimize noise. like louden said, tendons or ligaments shifting around.

I swear...when I switched to box squats...my quads have suffered a bit but my knees have ZERO problems...

My knees snap, crackle and pop constantly throughout squats. It doesn't sound sinister, just odd. Never been any pain either.

Whenever I stretch, and often in other movements, I get plenty of noises coming from my joints. My physiotherapist said I have very lose, flexibile joints (unfortunately my muscles and tendons aren't quite as cooperative).

Anyway, I've been told that its basically air and fluid moving around, and that its nothing to worry about.

It's just a disturbing sound, and makes me think my knees are going to rip out of the skin and I'm going to see my shin and all nasty shit. I'm all for gore, but when the thought of happening it to me arises... ech. I get nauseated and chilled, somewhat. Extremely loud, pulsing bass on my stereo should do it.
