Is this possible ?

I only want to lost a few inches off of my stomach, but I do not want to go on a cutting diet. I have gained some good muscle this winter, and do not want to lost any size. I haven't done any cardio, only heavy lifting all winter. Is it possible to gain even more muscle and lose a few inches off of my stomach at the same time ? Will a clean diet, cardio and heavy lifting do it ? Or, do I have to be in a negative caloric state to lose the stomach fat ?

Over time, body recomposition is possible simply because muscle partitions away so much of the calories you do ingest. But, it is extremely difficult and really involves some level of genetics and time to lose a gut while bulking or maintaining.

You have to really decide which is your priority right now, gaining muscle or losing gut. It's truly a personal decision in the end.

Now, can you keep 99% of your muscle while cutting? Absolutely. In fact if you want to only lose .25 of .5 pounds a week..you can cut at ANYWHERE from say 2600-2900 calories and still lose noticeable weight. It will take longer than a cut at say 2300 of course, but not long at all especially if youre lifting heavy doing cardio and eating clean.

There's no need to go much lower than that calorically. None of that 1800 calorie crap.

The problem becomes "few pounds" of fat. Decide exactly how many points of fat u realistically need to cut by figuring out your bf% and doing some math. For example, 200 pounds at 20% is 40 pounds of fat. 190 at 15% is 28.5 pounds. So..in order to go down 5% bodyfat in that instance you know you need to lose 12.5 pounds of fat while going down 10 on the scale. It's not that easy and there is some muscle loss to factor in, but at least u're not chasing some sort mythical "lose the gut" dream that causes people to fall into the cutting abyss.
