Really? I swear to god my feet have gotten smaller either that or shoe companies are doing like clothing and vanity sizing. I used to always wear between a size 7 1/2 -8 now I wear between 6 1/2 to 7 1/2
I was a 10 for years, but a hard to fit 10, I have an average width foot and a narrower than average heel.
The last few times I bought shoes has been sneakers, only out of desperation. All I could find that fit was one style of Nike mens x-trainers in 9.5 (I bought two of the same shoes). Nike has a reputation for being small cut, and the rule of thumb is go down 2 sizes converting from men to women's shoes, so I'm about a woman's 11, now.
I couldn't find any winter boots this year, period. I found a grand total of about 3 brands that came in 11 at all, and each was either ugly, crappy construction, enormous and/or provided no support.
I actually get sick to my stomach when I go shoe shopping, it's pretty pathetic. I generally go through 15 to 20 pairs of anything to find one pair that feels comfortable.
My husband, on the other hand, wears a slightly below common mens size. Fucker can actually find comfortable shoes on the sale rack (a feat I have accomplished less than 10 times in my life). At worst, he usually ends up trying on three pairs, max.
