I take a week off about every 12 weeks, just to give the bod some recovery time. I leave all my sups as is, and protein and fat too. The only tink I change is my carb amount. I change it to suit the new activity level, which is much lower. Generally this equates to 75-100g CHO, complex in the first half of the day and fibrous thereafter. When I figure CHO content of fibrous carbs, I SUBTRACT the fiber total from the carb total to determine the CHO amount. So a green bean serving with 9g CHO and 4 fiber would really only count as 5...that's not accurate, just giving an example. So with that method in play, 75-100g CHO can really still be alot of food.

The way i see it, all growth happens outside of the gym anyway - the gym is just there to break down muscle. So, I figure, even if you are not working out, your body still needs building blocks such as protien and energy such as carbs to power anabolism. So i would say, although i am no nutritionist, to stay on your current diet. Afterall, a week away from the gym is hardly anything. If anything, you will probably get good growth from letting your muscles and nerves relax and regenerate.

What I do when I take a week off twice a year..

Lower the Calories especially the carbs. Don't go near White bread, starchy stuff etc
Keep the Protein Up almost at W/O level. Stick with whole food instead of the Whey etc.
I am not currently on any Supps except ECA, Protein, Multi-Vit, C, E and I continue them.

One thing I try and do is find a way to keep up the Cardio and the Abs during my break.
I sat once and did nothing for a whole week, and getting back to it was mucho difficult in these 2 respects.

I'm talking Fast Walking on the beach( Fro No running), Stairs at the Hotel, Situps/Crunches.

In the morning I usually get up before anyone else so I can do this and still not miss any time with my family...

Also accept the fact NOW that you are going to add a couple of pounds of FAT. If you go into it knowing this, and Moderate your junk eating, you'll enjoy yourself more than worrying about eating veggies at the Resturants.

I have definitely heard that a week off every now and then is good for a body. I am doing it right now. I am eating junk food and generally living like a normal person for a couple of weeks, cause goddammit, I am about to graduate with a Master's Degree and I deserve a couple weeks off!
