For those who often go on long overseas flights...

What do you do during these flights to ensure you are still intaking enough clean calories?

I'm thinking of packing some tins of tuna for the plane.... Any other ideas on what I could pack?

It's tough. I used to fly over to Kuwait, etc... for the military from Baltimore all the time. If you bring tuna the flight attendants are gonna want to kill you and and so is anyone within a few rows of you. I used to cut up chicken into strips, bag em and carry on. They keep well and they don't stink plus you can eat with your fingers and don't look like a cave man. I also brought brown rice in a ziplock baggie, raw veggies, almonds, and some hard boiled eggs. Everything keeps pretty well. I actually prefer my brown rice chilled so I was good to go with that. Get a little soft sided cooler bag and you should have enough to hold you over for the flight.

Those pouches work better - less smell when you open them on an aircraft. You can bring fruit, nuts and chopped veggies like peppers/cucumbers as long as you eat up the fresh produce before you hit up customs on the other side. I have also taken cottage cheese cups and cooked chicken since the aircraft is always cool and airconditioned. Ready-to-drink protein shakes work too.

You can also just pack a few tupperware meals and give them to the flight attendent to refrigerate upon boarding the aircraft IF you use the line "I have health issues".

Your better bet is to request the diabetic meal (not the low fat or low calorie since that is always processed crap) choice with the airline since that is mostly clean foods.
