These are just some suggestions of food, i didn't post it on the "Diet" Board because most of those people won't eat any of this shit....

Last night in class i made a list of somewhat clean/healthy yet tasty high protein food choices to hit my goal of 420grams of protein a day....

1) Lean Steak 8-10oz/2 slices of toasted bread/light mayo/tomato/lettuce/low fat cheese sandwhich

2) Lean Steak 8-10oz/ White Rice Bowl/ Mixed Veggies/ Teryaki Sauce

3) Chicken 8-10oz Teryaki Rice bowl

4) Shrimp and rice bowl (when you feel like super tasty stuff)

5) 8-10oz of 7% lean hamburger meat in hamburger buns/ light mayo. low fat cheese. avocado. onions. tomato

6) Pizza Dough/ Sauce/ low fat cheese/ veggies with a 2 scoops of Whey protein shake

7) 3 scoops of whey protein shake, followed by a bowl of low fat ice cream, ,hershy's syrup, chopped nuts, low fat cool whip, and a cherry

8) 8-10oz Roast beef or Turkey on french bread/ avocado, light mayo, low fat cheese, tomato, lettuce, etc.

9) 8oz Salmon Steak, light mayo, 1 tablespoon flax, Dill relish, mixed up..tastes good.

10) 3 scoops of whey protein with a 2 tablespoons natural p.b./ natural jelly sandwhich.

11) 2 cans of Tuna/ safflower mayo/ chopped celery/ onions/ in Pita Bread

12) 2.5 scoops vanilla whey/ 1 banana/ 1.5cups skim milk/ ice mixed in blender

13) 3 scoops whey protein shake with your favorite cereal or 2 breakfeast bars.

Most of these meals are low in fat, and the ones that do have fun are pretty much from healthy sources. No fried foods, just solid tasty nutrious foods.

If you eat 7 of any of these meals you'll get about 420grams of protein since each meal contains roughly 60grams.

Planning is tha key i guess.

Hit me up with other food suggestions.

Peace

TxRugby_8 I agree. But there really is no cheap way to get 400+
protein cals. a day every day. Shakes or food it add's up fast.

Except the shrimp and tha avocados... you can get the other things pretty cheap if you buy in bulk.

Im also a college kid, and i'm probably broker than 90% of tha people on this board.

Trust me i budget everything out, and look for deals constantly.

Do you live close to where someone raises cattle? Me and 2 buds go out at night sometimes to one of the local cattle fields and lure a heiffer out. It's easy. Step on the barbed wire fence and guide the heiffer thru. They are usually co-operative since "the grass is always greener on the other side". Then we put a .22 slug into the head drag into the back of a pickup truck that has a winch. Then we bring it to a local butcher that will dress it out for us $50 - $75 (depending on the weight). That's a lot of meat for $75. Each $25 and we eat like kings.

LMAO bro, that's some funny shit...."he's so hardcore that when he can't afford protein, he steals a fuckin' cow!"

Good ideas TOC, breaks the monotany. Enigma that's funny shit! My family used to buy a quarter cow every winter but never plugged one in the head and dragged it off in the middle of the night to be chopped up by a butcher!!! Hmmm...online heiffer mail order...

bacon double cheeseburgers

2x the recommended amount of GNC protein powder, peanut butter & milk

i don't believe in healthy eating.

besides, where i live a lb. of hamburger meat, canned tuna or chicken (90-100g protein) is $1. GNC protein is 50g per $1. steak is $3 a lb. milk is $2.50 a gallon. condiments like peanut butter & mayonaisse are cheap.

either buy things in bulk, on sale or buy non name brands.
$20-40 a week for (the protein part of your) food bill is plausible if you need 300g a day.

HEY ASH345!!

Could you post the scientific study that you got your information from about eating that much protien. I owuld be interested in seein that.

Ash when i first started eating 420 grams of protein a day from my usual 220 grams, i started gaining 2lbs a week...naturally. Best of all it wasn't fat.... During the first 2 months it was mainly lean mass...

..BUT... once i started getting lazy, and eating junk instead of clean, i swear i could totally see tha fat just piling on...

Thats why i'm never going to jack in tha box anymore and getting 4 jumbo jacks twice a day. Once i started eating bullshit like fatty burgers and chinese food i started gaining fat.

But it waz all good at tha end, once i melted tha fat off.

Oh yeah , and my kidneys are fine. (Knock on wood)

Protein

Water Water Water Water. Did I say water? Keep those kidneys flushed out. It may not be healthy eating that much protein without drinking a few gallons of water.

In my best shape back in 98 I was 5'9" and 262 with noticeable abs and my food bill was easily over $300 a week. Clean food, no fast food restaurants. When I tore my quad and got out of the game for awhile my first trip to McD. I puked for hours. I don't know if it was the greasy foods or what. Of course I got over that and now I am a sweltering 245 of blubber.

DO NOT EAT 400g of protein a day -- unless you weight 350-400lbs. -- If you are less than 300lbs that much protein for a sustained period WILL cause kidney problems! That is just flat out unhealthy!!!!!!

Wrong answer bro. Although it can strain the kidneys slightly and somtimes inflame them, there is no permanent risk unless you stay at that amount of protein for several years at a time. That is why most athletes cycle their protein going from 1g of protein per lbs. of bodyweight up to 2g of protein per lbs of bodyweight. Most of the people on this board use around 1.5 to 2.0 grams per lbs. With amazing results and no side effects. I have done this for 2 years now. Every 10 weeks or when i start a cycle i go to see the doctor. Never anyproblems at all. My lifting partners, same thing, never any problems. You just have to take precautions like drinking 2 gallons of water a day. Simple as that. 400g or protein is safe.

I agree. The more protien I get in seems like the better off my body is. I used to get only 150g a day now its doubled and wow. Big Diff. Also I think fast food is all shit. You could prolly pick up some dog shit and eat it and get more nutrition out of it. Are you still out of the game due to your injury?

It is alot cheaper to buy in bulk.I get boneless chkn breasts for $1.79 lb if I buy 5 lbs or more.Ground trky for $1.89 lb if I buy 3 lbs or more.I havent really found any deals on steak.

East coast bodybuilder,

There is an increasing amount of evidence against eating too much protein. Much of it is circumstantial. For instance digesting animal protein involves a lot of calcium. This is often leached from bones if enough calcium is not ingested from the diet. This can lead to osteoporosis in old age.

Also digesting protein changes the body's equilibrium from alkaline (healthy) to acid (unhealthy). This (like most things in nutrition) is still controversial so many pro-protein people will challenge negative publicity about high protein consumption. The jury is still out on many of these issues.

You can get past many of these problems by eating vegetable sources of protein such as soy which is more gentle on the system and doesn't cause acidosis. Adding some soy protein to a body building diet while on steroids is also a good idea because the weak estrogens in soy act as anti-estrogens. Soy protein also absorbs excess cholesterol which is raised by the use of AS.

If you are interested do some research on protein as there are many differing opinions about what is and isn't healthy :)

No matter what, eating 400+g protein a day is hard as shit, especially when you live in a dorm and eat the school food...

Hell yeah it's fucking hard, it's seriously probably tha hardest thing i've ever done in my life... it makes everything else seem like nothing.

But it's all worth it.

I've been taking in about 500 to 530 grams of protein a day with about 150 to 200 grams of carbs a day.

Here are some ideas: 10oz of ground turkey with McCormick Taco seasoning and rice. Tastes great but you start ripping some serious farts after a day of it so space it out. Also Pure Whites (pasturized eggwhites) I get them from Trader Joes for about $1.79 for two cartons, equals 60 grams of protein and throw it in the blender with a MetRx and it tastes great and there you have about 80g protein and 34 grams of carbs. Also 10oz lean chop meat with rice and tomato sauce. Some off the top of my head.

exactly, its not fact. if i see a study where is shows to be of great harm to the body then i would cut back. but i have better results from eating 2 grams per pound, so thats what i do. bodybuilders have been eating mass ammounts of food for a long time, and i hardly think the protien is the thing to be worring about. like someone else said, i would worry a whole lot more about the drugs then protien. but thats just my opinion. train hard and be safe.
