What is your opinion on working out while sick with a cold? If I am sick I do not workout even if I am sick for two weeks. I was always told it is hard to get well if you keep working out. True or not?
It really depends on how sick you are and also what your goals are. With a severe flu you really need to let the body rest and heal. Long term you will be better off. If you just have a slight head cold working out wont do anything to hinder your recovery in my experience.
If you are somewhere in the middle it is probably best just to stay out of the gym for a few days unless you are prepping for a show or something.

Thanks! I guess I can be lazy for a week, but not necessary for 2. ;)

How sick are you?

I am not sick right now I was just wanting to know for later. My allergies act up, but don't get real sick very often luckily. I load up with zinc and vitamin C when my little ones get sick.

I've been trying to incorporate morning cardio into my routine, but I have a knee that gets cranky after two consecutive days of this. It's a wear and tear kind of ache from years of forcing my body into unnatural positions (ballet), so I'm resigned to it. But what would you suggest to reduce the inflammation the quickest? Ice pack? Certain vitamins or sups? Tylenol?

(apologies if this is a repeat question, but I don't have the time to skim all three pages)

well read up on this post. It has some good advice

http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/8054519-post208.html

on top of that i am really not too keep on taking any NSAID's(aspirin, celebrex, etc)
Ice works wonders, I would try that approach first(and obviously elevation and compression)
If you are really in a LOT of pain 2 alieve and 1 tylenol every 8 hours will help with pain management.

hope all that info helps!
