Diet Plan

Tom Treutlein

New member
My diet is very basic and simple in terms of the food eaten. I am 6', 177 lbs. I am planning to do DC Style Training. This is what my totals are going to be:

Cals Fats Carbs Protein
Totals (Training Day) 3742 132.5 352 307
Total (Normal) 3450 132.5 277 307

I'm going to throw in a few more glasses of milk or a scoop or protein for the rest of my protein, don't worry.

The fats come from EV Olive Oil, 4 Tbsp a day.
Protein shakes for protein.
Almonds, Natty PB, and Steel Cut Oats for carbs.
Milk as a buffer.

The total cost is 6.44 a day, or 45.08 a week. Is this expensive to feed one person, or not really? It seems reasonable to me. I'm on a very tight budget.

do you intend to get all ur protein from shakes? sorry, i couldnt ascertain that as you have only given certain sources

im not sure what the cost of living is in America so someone else is probably best for that question.

It sounds like a fairly low cost considering the amount of calories your taking in.

Please note that a diet that is more diverse in foods will supply more nutrients and result in better health.

It seems like you'll not be consuming enough:
1. vegetable
2. fruits
3. meats

Thats 3 out of the 5 food groups that are missing. This can cause serious problems with vitamin and mineral deficiencies down the road. You'll also be likely to exceed RDA and the upper limit (UL) for vitamin D and calcium if you plan on taking in more then 3 cups of milk per day.

Its okay to diet like this short term, but long term use of this diet can cause malnutrition and problems you don't even want to know about.

Good luck bro.

What can excess Vitamin D and Calcium do?

I planned on taking a multivitamin and mineral once a day, or having one bowl of Total Raisin Bran cereal. Sorry, forgot to add that. That will cover most nutrients I'm lacking.

I've been having upwards of 5 glasses of milk a day for my entire life, literally. More often than not I consume half a gallon a day. That's 8 glasses.

I found out that the RDI for calcium is 1000mg and the and the UL is 2500, so your covered- My mistake.

I do think your iron levels may be low as your not eating meat. I'm not sure if an multi-vitamin is enough to keep iron levels maintained, then again males are slow to have a deficiency as they don't lose blood like females.

I don't really think much of any noticeable effects will happen shortterm, but longterm effects will occur. The body simply is not designed to run on such a narrow supply of foods. You need 41 nutrients to support growth and well-being and they cannot be made up through taking a multi-vitamin. Only %15 will be absorbed in pill form as the body processes vitamins from food much more efficiently.

How long are you planning to do this?

6-months max for a bulking cycle probably. I can always throw in a plum or pear here or there (wow, that rhymed sadly) and have a bowl of Total cereal for the nutrients it contains. I just need quick ways to get down large amounts of food, and also for all these meals to be cheap. If I wasn't broke I would definitely buy whole, good foods over this stuff, but this is the easiest way for me to get the protein I need.

Throw in some broc and spinach in there. You can get them pretty cheap and it will help out your fiber and iron intake.
