cutting diet for vegetarians? HELP!

HI! =) I've been reading alot in this forum recently. And I really really want to go on a cutting diet on the first, (esp. after all the holiday junk binges!=( But all that I've read is chicken, fish, and more chicken. I've been a veggie for 20 years, and can't fathom eating meat. ( just a mental thing) I eat eggs now, and cottage cheese. But can anyone help me come up with a cutting diet for a vegetarian? I'm 5'4" close to 130-135. Not sure of my bf? I have alot of muscle, but I'd like to lean up ALOT! Any advice would be GREAT!!! =) thanks. :qt:

Eat whatever you can that has protein in it... Eggs, cottage cheese, other cheeses, stuff like that. Then make up the rest of the calories with whatever macros you feel comfortable with.

speaking of macros. I want to learn how to calculate al the ratio's for myself, but as a newbie I'm clueless =( know of any place i can learn about them, or what key words to use for a "search"?

Actually, my best advice would be to search out a veggie board and search for advice there. There is a large amount of good info here, but as far as diet for YOU....it will be a tough road. I would use this board for training tips/advice (which you should be doing) and then find a veggie board for a solid diet...

Just my 2 cents.

I have ran similar diets, just alittle beef. Your key is going to be to eat high fiber high protein meals, Shakes and egg whites will be staples as with beans. For example

Breakfast, 2 peices of 100% whole wheat bread, toasted with non fat butter spary, cinnamon, some splenda and 8 egg whites

Have a shake with some healthy fats

Lunch, Salad, with cottage cheese

Have some nuts or something

Dinner, Nonfat refried beans, whole wheat tortila, salsa, low fat sour cream and cheese

Get creative, use fiber to fill you up, slow the carb burnings.

ncmil =) so glad to hear from you! i think i e-mailed you with questions a few days ago? Anyhow, a normal day for me would be,

Break. (post a.m. cardio) 1 scoop whey prot. with 1/4 cup oats. 3 efa's.

2nd meal - salad w/ baco's ff italian and 1 veggie patty (100 cal.)

3rd meal protein bar, or 1/2 cup ff cottage cheese, and brussell sprouts 2 efa's

evening weights and more cardio.

4th meal, salad with bacos n ff italian 1 scoop whey protein, with 1/4 block lite tofu and 3 efa's.

I drink ALOT of water. and have recntly cut out all my beloved diet soda's. I'm going to have my friend who's a trainer, take my bf, and measurements before i start this diet on the first. I'll post them when i get em! ThANKS for the help!!! =)

Do you eat any fish? Or eggs?

Eggs can be used in a variety of ways for protein sources.... Since you've been a vegetarian for a while, I assume you know about TVP, seitan, etc. If not, give them a try -- I like TVP mixed with veggies & brown rice....

well, i don't eat fish, love eggs, it just seems im always rushed after the gym on my way to work to start cooking =( so the shake is quicker. I love seitan and tvp etc. but finds it cramps my stomach up. On the other hand, alot of people i talk to seem to think tofu in any form is not a real protein like "meat" is?....any thoughts?

You could have hard-boiled eggs as a snack....

Does the seitan & TVP cramp your stomach no matter how you have it?? I usually use it in baked dishes like casseroles, with rice, stuffed peppers, etc... and have never noticed that problem.... hmmmmmm

About the tofu being a complete protein.... hmmmmm... not sure, maybe it's like beans which are not a complete protein but mixed with rice it makes them such....
