Hello-

I am considering cutting all my carb intake after 3 pm....do you people think this will help burn bodyfat? I lift at 5 am......

Thanks......Z

I've really never been a big fan of cutting anything in particular if you're dieting to lose fat. If you burn more calories than you consume you'll lose the fat no matter what time of day you eat them. But generally speaking, consume a good portion of your daily carb intake after you're workout and gradually taper them down throughout the day to more lean proteins/fibrous veggies. (But don't panic if you have some starchy carbs later on in the day either.) Total number of calories in and out is more important overall.

What time do you go to bed?

I had this plan before where i would eat carbs in the morning and very little at lunch and almost-none after 5pm.

I train around 5:30pm, personally I cut carbs completely after 1pm apart from a pre-workout banana and half a post-workout shake. Works well for me its tough on leg and back days though, but helps me keep the bf% below 8. Comes back to the old calorie law, you need to burn more than you take in to loose weight...

bump means the person wants the thread to go to the top for more information or for more people to see an answer...

You don't necessarily have to cut carbs. (that is assuming you are eating good carbs now and not crap). You can go about creating a caloric deficit in many ways, cutting carbs is one of them. Such as the "food partitioning" protocol, where you cut carbs in favor of fats for the majority of the day.

You can then start getting into a TKD type diet, but that is another thread.

You have to remember though, it is not the act of cutting carbs that create the "magic" that will enable you to get lean, it is inducing a caloric deficit on a continuous basis. If your body is in an energy deficit, you will lose, no matter what you have cut.
