Cooking: A royal pain in the ass!

Thanks heaps for the advice. Got a birthday comin up next week so the foreman, a blender and rice cooker are at the top of my wish list!

Any of you ever had bad experiences with pre-cooking? as in, your veges going off or chickens getting too chewy, steaks starting to stink etc.? How many days can you get away with?

Once cooked, chicken and meats will last a good amount of time and stil be eatable. I'd be a little more weary with fish. I buy like 2 lbs. bags of fresh broccolli (already cut and washed) and spinach and that usually goes in about two weeks if not eaten. If you can find the kind with the zip lock then it'll last even longer. I guess it also depends on the state of your fridge.

I was pressed for time like this also,I found taking shakes and throwing tuna in a container every morning saved alot of prep time, but its costly with the shakes,as for breakfast just get up earlier. I have a real issue about keeping things in the fridge or leftovers,Its a odd phobia I think I just cant eat them even if its a day old,I gag so convienience food like tuna and shakes are great

Cook your veggies aldante (sp?). Just barely cook them. Then they will not be so "soft" when you reheat them. Plus they retain more vitamins that way. I think cooked chicken or beef is good leftover in fridge for atleast 5 days. At 7 days I chunk anything. I keep my fridge a little cooler than most, but I like my drinks COLD. You could even freeze items after cooking them and just take them out the day before you are going to eat them and put them in the fridge. If you are paranoid about freshness. I use big containers and throw all my stuff for one meal in one container.

I buy frozen vegetables often -- usually Birds Eye Baby Blends when on sale cuz they are a mixture of veggies, so 1 bag = 2-3 meals.

Costco has some good rotisserie chickens & that lasts me a week. Just pick off the meat & use. I also have cooked meats (beef, pork, chicken, whatever) in a crock pot till tender -- shred & freeze in tupperwares (1 svg per). Chili is also good made in a big pot & frozen in individual containers.

Leftovers will last 3 days to 7 days if kept properly refrigerated & reheated to the correct temperature.

lovin the frozen veggies.

in fact, before i thought of them i ate no veggies whatsoever.

I just buy the mix from walmart- make a full cup at a time in a pan w/ a some olive oil and salt. its pretty good, and I thought i was a veggie hater for life :D

You can cook lots of eggs in advance and eat only the white or the whole eggs days after

how long do you guys boil your eggs for? i attempted this a few times and always ended up with runny shit!

also, after they are boiled, what do you eat them with? salt? plain? salsa?
