Confused on cutting

Ok...I was sitting here at work bored as usual and I got to thinking....since you can't grow and cut at the same time, then why does one, when cutting, continue to lift weights? Is this just maintaining the muscle while trying to lose the fat? I was looking for more info on this but I was just getting myself confused....and now I probably got this all totally mixed up but can anyone clarify?

Thanks!! :)

i can still gain strength while cutting or at least perform at the same level. also the lifting while dieting will help u burn a ton more calories than u ever would sitting around the house.

Yes, you do it to grow as much as you can given the lack of fuel. Maintaining lean mass will help burn more calories, overall.

Personally, if I stopped lifting and tried to cut, I'd be a hag. I need more endorphins...especially with a CHO/CAL deficiency.

Ahhhh....thus the bulking comes in.....to grow, then cutting again to lose some of the fat put on while bulking, but you now have more LBM. Do I have this right?

If you dont lift heavy, you give your muscles no stimulus to grow.....low cals, lots of cardio...and light weight = muscle loss.
