I was reading an article yesterday, in fact it was posted on a link on here....i'll try to find it later, but it was saying that when you wake up, your body is fully carbed so this is the best time to burn fat...which is logical, but it said if you take in any carbs, since youre fully carbed they will just goto fat, if this is true, if im trying to cut fat, would i be best to only drink a protein shake with water after morning cardio for breakfast? so that i stay in fat burning mode....

normally, i thought it was best to eat the most during the morning and fuel yourself for the day, but this was saying otherwise.

Glycogen stores will be depleted following a night of fasting....not fully restored.

CHO's will never be magically stored as fat unless you eat too many of them - and this holds true for any macro - whether it be CHO/PRO/FAT. Plan your diet carefully so that you know how much of each you can eat during the day - and it won't matter that much in the long run how you split them up (*with pre & post workout being an exception).

'when you wake up, your body is fully carbed so this is the best time to burn fat'

how's this possible? when you wake up your glycogen stores are depleted and insulin sensitivity is elevated...it is the best time to consume carbs, just like post-workout

then why would people do cardio on an empty stomach?

Because when glycogen stores are depleted, the body cannot use it for energy, and taps into the fat stores.

Well, that's the theory, anyway; most people fuck it up and wind up wasting muscle mass.

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for more info on. I'm starting my first cutting phase next week and haven't found a clear answer on the subject. Can you explain in more detail? or do you know of any good sources of info on the subject? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
