Compulsive gym training.

My body is a bit sore and really need to to rest. I need more than a day off, more like two. But as I sit here, the urge to go to the gym and get a great pump is very strong. It's like giving up smoking and wanting and wanting to indulge but trying hard to resist.

Do I have a problem? Should I start a GAA (Gym Addicts Anonymous) support group??? :)

Whenever you feel like going to the gym just go, you wont be over training. When your body is over trained you really wont want to workout. I cant explain it but it's kind of like a chemical thing in your brain, you just wont want to lift a finger if your over trained. If you feel like you have the drive for one more day, just go!

Yah same here. i feel the same way sometimes. like guilty and shit. but what i do is if i just did two upper body days i ll do legs so at least my upper body is resting a bit. just my .02

I am constantly reading about how your body grows when it is resting. If you want to grow you've gotta rest, etc, etc. That is why I am taking more time off these days.

I seem to have spurts. For a while I'll be like you explained - all pumped out about working out. Sometimes I feel like going 3times a day! Then I'll go thru a spell where I'd rather lay around and watch tv. Regardless, I still push myself and always go. It's a mind thing and you actually do need rest or the work you put into it is counterproductive, but I can tell you're already aware of that.

Now if there was only a way to find a constant medium between over-motivated and under-motivated.............

Well i wouldnt go by that feeling if he feels like going to the gym everyday for 2 months thats still gonna lead to overtraining you need to rest, I feel like pumping everyday love going to the gym but i have to force my self to stay out a couple of days, too much of anything is never good...

Obviously your correct, you can't go every day for 2 months your body wont let you, like I said, your body will tell you when you can't work out. If you feel you can lift and you want to, do it.
