I mentioned to Raina a while back a friend was asking me to be one of her Bridesmaids for her Nov 20 wedding, but the dress was over five bills. In an email I declined due to the price of the dress and in the same email told her I did not want her to try and pay for it either since it was her wedding and that would just be wrong. She wrote back and absolutely insisted and I realized there was no way I could turn her down and not really hurt her feelings. I've known the girl a long time but honestly I didnt ever feel like we were that close, but when I told my mom her other bridesmaids were all her sisters, my mom was like "are you her only friend?" :worried: I was mortified because I realized that might be true. Holy crap I cant turn her down.

So Wednesday afternoon we met her at the shop and was fitted. She wrote the check and I'm going to pay her what I can monthly, which wont be much. It'll be income tax refund time next year before I get this bastard paid off.

It's obvious she really wants you to be her Bridesmaid.....that's sweet....Glad you decided to do it.....

What's the dress look like?

That's a lot to ask a friend to pay for a bridesmaid dress. Especially if you're not that close. It sounds like she really wants you in the wedding. I think it's okay to let her pay for it if she offered... after all, she chose the dress.

If she offerd I think it is best too accpet it as others have said she must really want you in the wedding parrty. I have a very big extended family everytime a cousin gets married and doesn't ask me to be in the wedding I breath a sigh of relief.

powder blue and completely ordinary looking. Price apparently is due entirely to the label. I think she went for designer but then realized she could only afford her most basic design. At least it's not flat assed ugly like the last albatross of a bridesmaids gown I got stuffed into.

Do you think you can wear the dress again? Maybe that is the only saving grace? :)

But holy cow, my WEDDING DRESS wasn't even $500!

You are a champ for doing it - that is very sweet, very considerate, and shows you are a true friend. :)

Instant Halloween costume!! LOL

Well today I wore the most expensive clown outfit ever made. I felt like SUCH a geek. And the groomsman who was supposed to escort me out left my ass so I had to walk down the aisle by myself after the ceremony. ?? Dude we just practised this like 3 times last night!

My parents were nice enough to have the rehearsal dinner at our house since we have a big place and Callie's family doesnt have a lot of money. My dad hired a professional piano player and had it professionally catered but pretended he and mom had cooked all that stuff themselves so Callie wouldnt suspect how much he'd spent. I was proud of him. :)

Meanwhile the groom's sleezy brother kept scamming on me. The cat just got out of state prison after 9 years for apparently being a bigtime drug dealer. ...............Sulma always attracts the classy dudes it seems.

sounds like you are a great friend. that was very sweet of your parents to go through all that trouble. i know your friend will look back on all this later and really be thankful for everything.

Damn, why do people splurge on the wedding and spend the rest of the marriage trying to pay for it?? I'm glad you were able to stand up with your friend and all, but seriously, $500??? I choked on the $180 + $70 for alterations I had to pay for my little brother's wedding for the "gorgeous" bridesmaid dress. Why is it that only the bride thinks the bridesmaid dresses are "gorgeous"?? By the time you add up dress, shoes, wedding gift, potential cost of travel if needed, etc etc etc in addition to all the pre-wedding stuff people do these days.

I hope your friend can budget her marriage better than her wedding.
