Body type & value of cardio vs heavy lifting

BTW - I have added carb rotation to the diet. I didn't want to get into an in depth analysis of my exact diets over the last two years -- wanted to look at the difference between more heavy lifting + less cardio vs. less heavy lifting & more cardio and if there is a correlation between that and body type, assuming diet were held constant.

Yes I am packing the FMBs for the Arnold. They are tall & since I dont' own any long pants go-out clothes, the boots will actually be for "warmth". (Living in the sun gives you weird views of what is considered "warm clothes"...) I would LOVE to have a pair of those over-the-knee boots that Janet J had on her HBO / in Hawaii show last night. Thigh-high but low heel & still very sexy.

The carb rotation worked wonders for my first comp and its helping progress now, however I am also doing piles of cardio which is significant too.

Hi VooDoo Lady, would you mind expanding on that? Did you say no because walking @ a fast pace for 45 mins is not considered cardio or because the 50-30-20 is not a good diet to follow to drop BF?

I think it's a choice, you can either do cardio or eat less calories; that's what cardio does, burn calories. Eating clean does not protect you from gaining fat, meaning, one can gain weight even on a very clean diet. If you'd prefer not to do cardio but still looking for that "bodybuilder" cut-up look, then start pulling back on the calories.

Your carb/protein ratios are out of whack. I do well on a 50P/30c/20f or even a 40/40/20
You cannot spot reduce so the fat will come off of more than just your tummy.
You are doing weight training in addition to clean diet and cardio correct???

Carb Rotation

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to loose like 15pds I am shooting for 3-4 months to take it off. I just changed my diet and I like the idea of tailoring your carbs around your training.
When should I start a diet like that and would it help me shead the 15pds I want to loose? I have been struggling for a while trying to get this bodyfat off sooooo any assistance would help.

Thanks CC

I'm a big fan of TKD's (Targeted Ketogenic Diets). I tend to overeat carbs more than any other macronutrient, and consuming them around excercise not only gives me a wicked pump, but also makes me crave them less later. During and after excercise, one's insulin sensitivity will be best, and consuming carbs in that time frame would help one to make the most of them.

Sassy, what supplements are you taking? Any thermogenics? With that percentage of carbs in your diet, you might want to look into a glucose disposal agent like Alpha Lipoic Acid - it's a great antioxidant too. Good luck with your cutting, keep us posted...
