Best Max bench to increase lower half...

Ok..here is the situation. My bench is really strong at the top but weak relatively on the bottom and it is screwing me up big time. What is the best max effort exercise that can help increase my strength right off my chest?

Any other exercises that can help?
 
for increasing strength off the chest. on an ME day you can do a Heavy set of Illegal wide grip bench a set of 6 that's really heavy and hard for 7 or you can do DB press for triples(heavy) and pause at the bottom to make sure you go down wide. Incline barbell bench to a single. other things that might help are try more rows, rows, and rows. Instead of how you'd do 3 sets of 8 try 5 sets of 8.

DE bench and 1 or 2 board press w/ a 4" cambered bar are the two best things I have found for the first half of the bench. That used to be my weakness, after adding the cambered ME exercise I have no problems with the start.


BE CAREFUL if you use illegal wides! They can be murder on the shoulders and pecs. I really would'nt recommend them unless nothing else works for you. ALso watch out on cambered stuff-- don't go more than an inch or so below your chest or you could lose a pec as dave tate would say.
