Are there any BodyBuilders in this fourm?

I have read a wealth of good info from powerlifters on this training board (spatts, B True..etc...), ......

..... but I'm not interested in powerlifting, or strongman... in the least.

Hell, I don't care if I can bench 495, 315 or even 135 (just numbers to me).... as long as I have good muscle development/symmetry........ and I'm growing!

Well, in reality.. I haven't bench pressed in over a year... and haven't maxed out on any lift in more than 2 years..... I do a lot of work with DBs.

We all know there are different styles/form in lifting for bodybuilding than powerlifting.... and we hear alot about the powerlifting, but were are all the bodybuilders at?

Ok, to be objective I just went through and counted the number of BB related threads on this first page, with max number of pages showing. 5x5, calves, biceps, elbows, training journals...I'm sorry, but I don't see what you're seeing. If you think AR and PL bench form can't be great assets to a BBer, then I would encourage you to reconsider. Otherwise, I think the forum, or at least the first page, is full of great info for any athlete.

Actually, I think that putting the back flat on the bench causing more travel in the movement would benefit the BBer.

I see your point, it's just that it seems that you powerlifting folks are better at putting out info relating to your styles.

I agree on the BB form. For those that want to stimulate the chest in a compound movement without compromising shoulders (those prone to rot cuff probs), a PL bench is a decent alternative.

I think needsize, SG, and other 5x5ers do a GREAT job of putting info out. Otherwise, I do see your point. There are as many theories as there are individuals, and I think BBing is more complex in that regard than PLing.

Agreed.
There is such a strong parallel and interchangability between the two, that it would be foolish to disregard one as being useless for your interests. The two training styles compliment each other in may aspects.

Powerlifting fundamentals drive the body into extreme anabolic states. It has no choice. During this time, its up to you how you manipulate the variables in your training, diet, etc in order to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing body that suits you.

Powerlifting essentially is bodybuilding to an extent. You can manipulate it to put slabs of mass on you, or you can use it for pure strength while keeping size at an efficient level. PL is a HUGE tool for the bodybuilder.

I understand the difference between the two of course, but its definiately a very grey area. Don't see it as black and white, or you'll be cheating yourself out of size.

Uhh... I consider myself a bodybuilder... although I've modified alot of the powerlifting techniques to further my gains in lifting to help build the size.

Following a powerlifting routine, you could easily put on size, as doing low rep high weight exercises will increase the 2 b & c fibers... the "fasties" as I like to call them. ;)

So, if you incorporate enough of it, it will help you gain the look you want... if not in and of itself.
