A little help here..advice?

I need the expert advice from all the users, viewers and supporters of EF.

Here it is; two years back I was 5'11" 218 lbs and 7% bf. I used an extreme workout routine with an undisciplined diet. Some how it was effective. A crosscountry move, job change and an abrupt end to a six yr relationship. I am now 223 lbs and 21% bf. I tried the old routine to get into shape but my body can not handle the abuse. What are good diet routines that will help me loose the gut and excess fat. I have tried the low carb fads and they are not effective for me. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
 
That's a pisser. 5 pounds different but 14% BF different. I'm gonna tell you what I do. Forget about carbs and fat. Figure out your BMR. Stay as close to that as you can and take in about 200 grams of protein per day. Basically worry about calories and protein and the carbs and fat will handle themselves. You need them, so don't cut them out totally.
 
Thank You onerep. I have been taking in about 200 grams of protien a day lately. I am down in the wieght to 217 lbs. Again thank you.
 
There are so many "low carb fads" out there.

Which one didn't work for you? What approach?
