42 days between menstrual cycles

I'm running 42 days between menstrual cycles - 6 weeks. Is this normal? I think I've read that Spatt's has a longer than 27 day cycle, but I don't think hers is this long. Also, for women who do have a longer cycle - is it consistent? Can I expect my cycle to always be 42 days if I'm staying off OC? I'm asking because I just received notice my Centroman has shipped, and you're supposed to start it Sunday after your cycle. I don't think I'll get it in time to start this Sunday, so that means a 42 day wait. :-(

JJ -- there was a time that my periods were every 45 days +/- and the flow was moderately heavy for a full 5 days with 2 lite days.

After the birth of my son, my system did a 360, I would get my period 11 days after ending a 10 day period. It was a light period but I would be experiencing it very often.

I was not fit at either of these times...but the 45 day cycle had been communicated to me that it was fine as long as I was not hemmoraghing, anemic or showing other symptoms or discomforts. It was like that for about 3-5 years.

Before I got pregnant this second time I got my period every 6 weeks. It happened all of a sudden. I'm not sure why.

If your bodyfat is low, then you're cycle can be screwed up. That's why I went on birth control. I would miss mine for months, it gets a little scary when you miss it for that long. Now that I'm on BC, it keeps me regular with my cycles but I still don't really get much of anything, but that's a good thing. Is the avatar picture a current pic JJ? If it is, that would totally explain it, u are looking pretty lean there girl!

That's a picture from December; I'm up about 7 lbs. from that picture, although I still have veins in my lower abs. My upper body filled out nicely during my too short bulking cycle. Unfortunately, I start dieting again next week. The first couple weeks are just adjustment weeks though, so I won't be grouchy for a couple more weeks. :-)

I went off OC about a 1 1/2 years ago, and just started getting periods again - this is my third one after about 2 years without. There's been no real rhyme or reason to the pattern - it would be nice if my body would just figure out a cycle so I could quit guessing. At least when I start Centroman, I should stop having them again. No more tampons!

My cycle has become longer since I started doing heavy deadlifting in November last year. My bodyfat is at about 20%, so that can't be the explanation here. I've always had a very irregular cycle, from 25 to 31 days ... Lately it was 35 days and now I should have had my ovulation last weekend, but I didn't (I feel it, because I take St John's worth, that makes my breasts hurt from ovulation till menstruation .. Still they are painfree).

So this leg training obviously has some hormonal influence here, probably it caused my testosterone levels to go up? That would also explain the slight increase of hair on my upper lip (I wouldn't call it a moustache yet .. more something 13-year-old boys look at in the mirror and ask 'shall I shave, shall I shave' ;)

You know, that's funny, Wateengedoe2. The only indication I had the week prior was my breasts were sore. I kept thinking - why are they so sore? Then I got my little surprise visit this week. Normally, I retain water the week prior, but that's about it. It's interesting watching these changes in your hormonal levels...

I've always had irregular periods. Doc told me that it was "normal" for me and that is just how my body works (and it has). The only time I would menstruate with any regularity was between babies (and the years I was on the pill - then I could predict to THE HOUR when it would start). When my last child was about a year old my body went back to its old ways. My doc told me that I got older, the periods would get scantier and farther apart....

I say I am a TOTAL BITCH as I only menstruate about 3/4 times p/year.... like a dog. LOL

I only have these sore breasts when I have progesterone in my body and something else that influences my hormones? Until now I found three things that do, i.e. the birth control pill (if I take that, my breast are killing me 3 out of 4 weeks :(), a lot of sex and thinking about sex in the beginning of a relationship and as I found out now, St John's worth. I have no explanation for it, never heard anything like it (except for birth control pill, some women tend to get sore breast from that). Anyway, it's a good indication for my ovulation (after that it starts) and helps me somewhat predict the start of my period (quite useful when it's so irregular) as there's always 14 days between ovulation and menstruation. When I am sore in my chest because of my chest workout, sometimes it's hard to feel the difference though.

That's a good one - I'm gonna have to use it! :D
