Why do I get pins & needles so quickly?

What are pins & needles from? I get them really quickly in my feet if I cross my legs ankle over knee, or if I hang my arm over a chair back. If I sit cross-legged, my feet go to sleep.

Any insights? (OK, I'm lazy, I haven't done a google search. I'll go do it later, but in the meantime, anyone know what causes them?)

When I was using AS for 6 weeks I had this problem big time !
I couldn't sleep like I use to and I woke up several times every night from the pain !!!
I don't know if you're "on", but I think it's a side effect when using AS.
It's back to normal now, so maybe it's just a "phase" ???

That's interesting, NF. I did a google search and turned up some other interesting stuff. Apparently hypertrophy and/or scar tissue from healed tissues and/or the repetitive action of weight lifting can compress the nerves in the wrist leading to carpal tunnel syndrome (which manifests as tingling or numbness in the hands). Bev Francis had this in both hands, and had to have surgery in 1992.

I just went to my chiropractor the other week for a numb thumb, and he told me it's carpal tunnel. I didn't see the connection, and this doesn't explain the feet going to sleep, but I've put about 1 inch on my calves since May, post-comp. Maybe the new muscle is pressing against some nerves ... (I'm not on, btw)

Anyway, ladies, something for you to think about. Careful how you bend your wrists on curls and things.
