What will get me better results on my quest for a 6 pack?

Well heres the thing i see one coming in but i was wondering what is better and more effective a regular sit up or the hanging leg raise? I figure the hanging leg raise is better because i can do about 120 regular sit ups in a row but only about 20 hanging leg raises also i read they work on every part of your abdomen where sit ups only work on the top and middle. Any advice would be appreciated greatly thanks.

Also witch ones are more effective the ones where you keep your legs straight or fold them? I am assuming since its hared to do the straight leg that one will provide more results. What do ya say?

6-packs are earned in the kitchen, not in the gym. Everyone has a 6-pack, its just that a layer of fat is on top of them. You must drop body fat % if you want your abs to show. So if you want the abs, you must get a clean diet, get into the habit of eating 6 times a day, get into the gym and do cardio at least 5 times a week. (I run around 5 miles a day, 5 times a week-and lift weights 3 days). Work hard and you can achieve it.

It is true.....diet is the key to a six pack. If you get your diet in order, then your sixpack can show.

However, the statement that we all have one bears a litttle expanding upon. If you just lose fat, you will simply have a flattter stomach. This will be done by simply burning of calories.

In othe words, the basis is there, but the muscle still has to be built, like any other muscle. This must be done with resistance, rest and diet like any other muscle. Just situps or hanging leg raises will do this.

You need to add resistance to the mix. Weight. For example, upper pulley cable crunches with as much weight as you can use. Add in lying leg raises with a dumbbell between your feet and you will hit the entire ab plate.

I know all about the layer of fat you need to get rid of i run 3 miles a day 5 days a week and weightlift every other day i was just wondering witch one is the most affective but i see that regular crunches only work the upper and middle abdomen where the hanging leg raise works the upper middle and lower so i guess ill stick with that one and the other one that works one the sides.

if you do situps every other day, you're just going to wind up with a wierd gut until you lose most of your fat.

i dont really know what you're going for...

if you want to lose body fat, do some research on the board, create a good diet and do cardio. even cardio is iffy at this point, but if you must, i wouldn't recommend running. after 5 years of ignorance, my knees are kind of shot. do a stationary bike; less impact on your joints. or rather, do light lifting 3x a week.

if you want to gain muscle, then cut the cardio.

it seems like you're doing too much to get anything accomplished.

Fiction agent is totally correct. I went from 240 to 189 in a 3 month span. I think i may have the best 5 pack ever. ;) doing Ab's everyday for the first full 2months. Now i have an amazing 4 pack, with a wierd looking gut.
