What do you spend per week on food?

Typical week how much do you spend on food at the grocery store (do not include eating out)?

Going over my 2005 bills I averaged it out and I spent $19760 at Safeway. Assume 80% is food, thats over $300 a week in food. When I told my gf that she flipped out. She says it's way more than normal.

I eat a lot of lobster, crab, shrimp, and steak. Guess it adds up.

about $25... unless it's one of those odd weeks where I run out of everything.. then I can normally get out of there spending $40. I too am in college.

Well after getting karma for the previous post I feel compelled and tell my favorite bulk food section story.

So my girlfriend and I went everynight at about 2am to bulk foods so I could eat. I was a college runner so I needed all the calories I could get. Anyway after 3-4 months of eating a ton right in front of employees finally someone called me on it. "Hey you cant just eat the stuff without paying!" and I said "You guys just throw this stuff out anyway" (which they do) and after a big fight my girlfriend kicks the container with M&Ms and it basically explodes and the floor is covered with Valentines colored M&Ms. Immediately we darted out of the store and we were followed by the (college age) employee who called us on it. Like I said it was really late so this whole episode basically went unnoticed by anyone else it seemed because so few people were working. He wouldn't have caught me but might have caught my girlfriend if he didn't slip (icy) and eat it real hard on the concrete where they kept the flowers outside.

Anyway...seeing the M&M thing explode was a top 5 moment in my life.

Funny story, but to get back to your original question........

If you dont count supplements i spend about $100 - $140 a week in BJ's on skinless, boneless chicken cutlets, bulk tuna cans, beef salami, turkey breast and condiments

I spend about $50, I shop half the time at a cheap grocery outlet and half the time at safeway. I hate when the grocery outlet runs out of chicken, I have to pay $10 a package for it at safeway and it doesn't last me as long. :(
