I find it odd that you NEVER have had a decent encounter with the Police. Hmmm My bet would be that the sec you are stopped the first words out of your mouth are"Why are you stopping me" or something to that effect. Then comes the I was not speeding, it was the other car, I was being tailgated etc. I dont know you but Tell ya what if you are ever up here in Mi. I'm not a patrol officer but I know guys dont give a shit about that unless its obvious or dangerous. But if you're unhappy with your local rules vote for someone else next time. Here people were pissed cause they couldn't turn on their right on a red light. Now they voted for another politician and its gonna be effective next year.

I'll be honest: 50% of them are dicks. Mostly those coming from HS or the Police academy without a BA. The guys with a degree are way different. They took the time to learn something and are usually more rational. It's like you can't compare a FBI agent with a NYPD officer.

Not a fan. As people who knows what they're like? But I hate the fact that people always hop on the brakes when they see one at the side of the road. I always kind of do a double take when I see one, even though I am doing nothing wrong.

Now I REALLY have it in for the campus cops at my school. Those fuckers think it is their JOB to sit on their ASSES. I'm a TA and I like to work late sometimes and I have to be let into my building. I'll call the desk and have to wait like 25 minutes for a guy to make a two-minute trip to let me in. Once I called and the guy was like, OK I'll send somebody right over. 10 minutes later I called back, like, any progress? The guy was like, oh yeah the officer just left. I was like, why did it take so long, and the guy was like, I told the officer but he had to go on break. They are a bunch of no-good ass bandits.

This is changing to a significant degree. The state police agency my father retired from required a Bachelor's degree in any field or an Associate's in Criminal Justice before entry into the academy. That was 10 years ago and I don't know what the requirement is now.

BTW I don't know about speeding ticket quotas but I'm sure there are parking ticket quotas here. It's factored into the city budget, and I'm pretty sure I saw a news story about another "blitz" last summer to make up for a shortfall.

There was a cop lifting at my gym and I heard him bragging about "kicking people's asses". I know one cop that told me he couldn't wait to get a chance to shoot someone. Less than a year after he got out of the academy he shot an unarmed 16 year old boy in the back because he was running from him. I sure hope he enjoyed shooting this kid since he was so looking forward to the occasion.
I think part of the problem is they hire 21 year old kids, give them a gun and badge and they think they're Dirty Harry. Older cops are better because they don't bother people as much. They get lazy and won't mess with you unless you're really causing trouble.

Fantom, back to you - Do you ever stop and think about the cops that ran into the WTC? Those dumb motherfuckers probably thought they were going to arrest the hijackers. Were they going in to tell people to leave? The FDNY at least was convinced they were going to fight the fire. So what were the cops doing?

I think a lot of cops can be dicks. They can have a superiority complex My brother is one and he can be a dick .We talk about AS and he tells me that most cops he knows dont give a fuck about it. He lives in a high crime area and they are so busy with real crime that they dont have time to deal with bullshit stuff like AS. I think a lot of cops are like that, unless they want to be heros and bust people to make their record look better. He wants to juice but is worried about testing. Remember, cops are human beings and they are suseptiable to the same eagers and faults as the rest of us. I try to tell myself that but sometimes, man they can be bitches.

I should say this to. Police officers get so much shit from people that they are trying to help they put up a wall. Imagine if you have to assist someone who hates you or is dangerous. My bro tells me stories you wouldnt believe. its a tough job and Im glad taht someone is doing it.
