What Are Your Feelings On Cops?

Mindless ticket writing...

Speaking if mindless ticket writing and systems designed soley to generate revenue, how about those new, mobile speeding cameras? Those a fucking BULLSHIT!!!! They are all over D.C. and not only do they bring revenue to the city, the vendor, Northrop Grumman I think, gets like $10 for every ticket fee collected. Complicity between the industrial conglomerates and the government, to fleece the people. I am going to a hearing for an automated ticket I got, I am not going to pay without a fight.

I know a few cops and I grew up with them so I saw the before and after and they did not get swelled heads. However they all have told me time and time again that they had been pressured to back up fellow cops even if they had done something terrible. The blue curtain exists and they are a brotherhood like it or not. I have been following the story in california about the rogue cops who set up hundreds of kids , planting evidence, shaking down drug dealers and prostitutes and sending many innocent people to prison! The one cop who turned on all his brothers got caught stealing 2 kilos of blow from the evidence locker and now he is getting all his buddys fucked because he is squeling like a pig. I do not trust the police because they can frame you and send your ass to jail in a heartbeat. I have filed complaints against a few and they were shocked to say the least. I do not hate them but I would not put anything past them. I judge each person/cop individually and do not want to label all of them as being crooked but someone needs to be watching them..... and all the time! My favorite line from them down here in florida is " I did not know any black families lived in this area" I have had that said before and I asked him if he was with the census people and who is he to say what color people live where? I wrote his ass up and he wont even look my direction now and the captain apologized for his behavior but that was not enough, I have some real bad feelings for that asshole but I will leave it up to my attorney the next time it ever happens. peace

A lot of cops are real pricks and control freaks.. Why else become a cop? So you can be in control of other people.. You can demand respect without having to give it.. It take NO INTELEGENCE to become a cop, just lack of fear, which usually indicates sub par intelegence... Most people do not become cops because they WANT to serve the public. That being said, Im sure there are good, even great cops... I think they are the minority though.

why become a cop ? lets put the old "to serve the community" on the side. For the pay-check my friend. An investigator (with the sergeant-detective rank) can make from 30 000$ to 58 000$ (after 5 years of service) a year. Of course you can make more with promotions. As for police-officers I dont know, but they make good money.

If money were the only concern....

I don't think cop would be a top career choice. I'm thinking engineer, laywer, doctor, IT professional, are all much better picks.

I know a lot of guys on my football team aspired to be in law enforcement. I think they craved an athmosphere of male comeraderie more than anything else. I don't think those guys are bad people, but at the same time I don't think they are thinking of other people first. I think they wanted to do it because they figured it was a good fit for their personality, or they had a relative in the force, or figured it was easy or cool.

I also know one thing: I wish I knew more cops or had lots of local cops in my family. I hear stories all the time how family members of cops get these special cards they carry around with them and if they ever get pulled over they just show the card and get waved on.
