Walking for Cardio?

DAHULK

New member
Fast walking, say about 2-3 miles everymorning, would that be considered a good fat burning cardio program? I ask because w/me, i feel i get more outta walking. I feel my calves and entire upper leg gets a better burn than when running. Does anyone here use walking as their primary source of cardio? Thanx!

Absolutely, BUT....

You must get your heart rate up there.

Here's an alternative. My joints got tired of the impact of running long ago. So, I decided to walk on a treadmill. I compensated by going a brisk pace but increasing the incline for difficulty.

If you've ever hiked up a hill, you'll notice how hard your heart and lungs have to work to do the job, but you don't stress your joints anywhere near as hard as running.

Try that instead.

I walk on a incline on the treadmill, really works the entire leg. Does anyone take spinning classes for their cardio, I wonder if this would be good for cutting?

I run in the morning. But when on the treadmill I am usually walking aroun 3.2-3.5 miles an hour playing madden. It sounds silly but after a game (40 min.) I have broke a good sweet. And it's better than sitting in front of the TV

I walk 5 days a week on treadmill....4.4mph, 14 incline, 30-35 mins....usually burn 450 cals

NJ...

450 calories per walk session? If that's the case, DAMN! I don't think i've ever burned that many calories. Thanx for the input guys. I'm gonna change my walking to an incline treadmill.
