training and eating

Im cutting at the moment and on a clean diet of 50/25/25 p/f/c. Just have a couple of queries-
1) When I do cardio why do I need to wait 30 mins before having my oatmeal?
2) After my weights session I take in a protein shake straight away, should I add dextrose or a sports drink like lucozade and if so how much
Thanks

The theory behind holding off on eating after cardio is that your body will continue to tap fat stores even once you stop the actual cardio itself.

I personally add dextrose to my post-workout shake (even while cutting) but I keep it lower (maybe 20-30g). I think the benefit it provides for sparing lean muscle mass outweighs the potential danger of fat gain.

As long as you're keeping calories in check (and you include the dextrose in your totals) you shouldn't have problems.
