Switch to 3x5 or Madcow?

Project X 24

New member
I am into the 10th week of my 1st try at a 5x5 and I am getting to the point were I am thinking about switching to 3x5 or even madcow. The reason for the switch is I believe I am at the point were the weights are getting high enough and I am not recovering properly. I had my 1st failure the other day on my power cleans. I feel like I have maybe another week or two max before I start to see failure on almost all of my lifts. I dont like to quit anything but I honestly dont think I am recovering from the squats. So I was thinking about doing a 3x5 on my squats and then slowly move everything to 3x5 as I start to fail as the program suggests and see if that helps with my recovery. It would be great to hear from some more experience bros out there. Thanks

Current lifts
Squat 365 5x5
Deadlift 455 I do as many reps as I can for 1 set, I got 8 of this on saturday
Bench 295 5x5
Military 225 5x5
Power clean 225 failed and did 5,5,4,5,4
Current bodyweight 214 BF 14-15

Some people just find out thier new max ,adjust the routine and repeat it. Sometimes dropping back down to the beginning and starting over does well. Weilders 5/3/1 is a great one to move on to. Its one I tried and like it alot. Its four days a week hitting one body part each day along with the option of doing whatever accessories you want. Heard good things about the Madcows also. There are several good options.

Yeah I hope to be repping that kind of weight soon. I'm about 40 pounds lighter than you. Hopefully I can bulk up to about 185 195 lean in the next year. How did the katana treat you? Heard its good for a cut while keeping strength.

It was the original katanadrol. It was great for keeping strength while leaning out. I leaned up quite a bit while eating below maintenance cals.
