Stomach cramps when you diet?!?!

GUESS

New member
Does any one get stomach cramps when hardcore dieting?

I'm into my 3rd week of my diet and I have, somedays unbareable, stomach cramps. They sorta feel like the cramps you get when your stomach is really empty. Thing is I eat every 3 hours and drink at least 2 litres of water a day so I know I'm not hungry or in lack of fluids, I'm thinking my body is under some sort of shock maybe from my diet being so clean.

I'm taking in only the following; chicken, fish with salsa for taste, whey shakes with water in the morning and skim milk later in the day, one cup of basmati rice for a portion, plain steamed potatoes, broccoli, oatmeal, half a tomato for a portion and egg whites.

My diet is high in protein with no fat and very moderate carbs. Also 1 can of tuna and a small steamed potatoe seems to fill me, i feel stuffed, I'm also thinking my stomach may be shrinking to quick. I'm asking this because it is extremly uncomfortable and limits me to be as active as I can be in and out of the gym.

Any thoughts?

Are you not eating any carbs in the morning? I would add a little oatmeal(with splenda and cinnamon) in the morning. It will give you a little more energy through out the day and because you eat it in the morning there is no way it will be stored as fat.

I've had this too twice in just over 2 weeks now. One of the times it only got better because it made me sick. I want to know why this is happening...?

I've went through it too! Been a while but still would like to know what caused it.

Hi

If you're diet has changed dramatically from the norm for you, then there's several things which could cause stomach discomfort.

a. High protein diets place a high demand on the digestive system, and this can result in mild stomach discomfort or even pain.
b. Increased stomach acids can transcribe into pain and discomfort in the stomach and gut.
c. Stomach gases increase when higher demands are placed on your digestive system, and lots of people find gas gets trapped and leads to stomach ache, constipation, and flatulence.
d. Empty stomach between large intermittent meals with high protein can lend to muscle contractions and pain in the colon etc.

Alka-Seltzer, and bicarbonate of soda can help to relieve many of the symptoms providing it isn't due to another medical cause.

Hope you get it sorted.

1) drop all milk from your diet, milk is for babies my friend

2) add psyllium husk fiber 3x/day (1 TBSP.) with at least 500MLs of water every time + 4 caps of probiotics 20bill + digestive enzymes.

3) add more healthy/good fats like flaxseed, olive and MCT

Cow's milk allergy is a serious allergy which causes anaphlaxsis. This can cause you wind pipe to swell thus cutting off your air. Yes this causes asthma. If you have a cow's milk allergy , you should avoid milk or cows milk proteins (whey , casein) all together. Use Egg and Beef proteins instead

The only way to know is to get the skin prick test done at the allergist
