Steak, and lots of it...?

Anthrax, could you check out my other steak thread in this forum? Not the heme iron one, but...here...

A steak is not like a manufactured product

Its composition can varry drastically from 1 steak to the other

It depends on the cow's diet, her age, her race and how the butcher prepare the steak

as for fat, I shouldn't worry
You're not eating french fries, fried stuff and pizzas 5 times a week ?
then 2 steacks a day are just fine

So if it's so varied...dammit. It's hard to decide an average caloric amount per ounce then. Is 70 cals overrated, or does that seem possible? 'cause I don't want to estimate myself eating 1240 cals or something from steak and end up getting only 800.

An important factor that I tried to point out is the CUT of steak your talking about. top round is very lean because the cut come from a very excercized part of the animal. But this also means the meat will be tough.

Steak != Steak (not equal) this is for sure, but to compare apples to apples you need to compare cut of top round to a cut of top round.

If you wanna be like njripped you can eat this without taste or thouroughly cooking it and you can get some good numbers from it. Problem is that you should eat 6 SMALL meals a day. Eating one HUGE meal a day will not stop you from going catabolic because you need to feed yourself continuously per day every 3-4 hours or so.

You're asking too much of the steak....

Uh, I plan to eat 6 oz. of steak every 3 hours...

That's asking too much of it? I'm not asking for one huge meal. 36 oz. steak in a day, divided into six meals. Maybe I forgot to add that, I don't even remember.

Google for red meat risks if you feel like reading. From what I can tell, it could increase your risk of cancer. But really, what can't anymore.

Every 3 hours ?

In the middle of your meeting with your boss/colleagues you bring your Foreman grill ?

Surely! ;)

Nah, I eat it cold. I love steak cold. I prepare it a week in advance (roughly) and chow down throughout the day. Easy to partition 6 oz. servings of steak and a potato and a half into little tubs. Of course, if it was a staff meeting or something of that sort, I'd just have to run to the bathroom really badly due to my overactive bladder.

I once ate tuna in my cubicle but my colleagues didn't appreciate the smell of tuna at 10am ;)

Problem is beef top round is generally a pound or more. The ones I have are 1.5 pounds. So 16oz * 1.5pounds = 24ounces. Maybe cook the whole 24oz and eat 8oz . Put the remainder 16oz in an air tight container. Get another 8oz and reheat ...
