Shrugging away at traps little results

Whats up guys im a big fan of the way beastly traps look i work out my traps shoulder day and sometimes on back days.i use free wieghts feel it contracts the muscle alot better then barbell. My question is what works better as far as excersises over all routine to get those huge traps

Mix it up with deadlifts and bent over rows. Even upright rows work well for that. I find trap development is related to back development to an extent. Don't neglect heavy back work!
 
Yea i feel it a lil more when i do my back i had a minor back injury due to deadlift kind of been scared of jumping back on that horse

if you want a muscle to grow.. don't over work it. hit it hard, quick, and heavy.. with good form of course.

also consider changing your diet a bit.. eat more on the days you work traps.
 
i feel like sometimes something like traps is sorta like calves. ya got good muscle tie ins or ya don't and they may never look quite like ya invision in your head. thankfully mine are and have always just been there and swell easily. i like shurgs at my sides with heavy weight for sets of 20(slow) with burn out for another 10. usually do this twice a week for 4-5 sets at the end of back and shoulder day
 
Oh k my back is a lil weaker then the rest so i generally hit moderate iron so i can maintain that good from .would you say to push my limits a lil more in this regard??? Eat more when working traps????? Sounds good im going to do that for sure i normally work each body part once a weak 5 days in 2 off

My chest and arms are my best i hit it hard and heavy ...tht is true about traps not always going to come out the way you want them to ...but that wont stop me from trying to make em look as beastly as possible .i figured once i diet and cut they look alot bigger

i usually work them on shoulder day with just 2 exercises. first is heavy barbell shrugs. as heavy as i can go for 4-5 reps.. but go to failure each time. so if i can get 6 i do six. form is limited on this.. trying for explosion.

and then after that it is over to dumbbell shrugs. slow reps with a 3 second pause on top to really contract the muscle. 15-20 reps or until failure or im crying. 2 sets as well.
