should my wife train the same as me

hi all , my wife trains with me 4 x times a week in a standard split routine , we train heavy most of the time - her goal is to be lean and muscular - i am about to start preparation for my first show and as the summertime is aproaching she wants to add cardio into her routine again, a trainer at the gym suggested that we may be holding each other back but we are reluctant to train seperately as she is the best training partner i have ever had and her motivation drops wen im not pushing her , is it possible for her to reach her goals whilst training with me just by adding her cardio in the morning - her diet is quite reasonable with 4 small meals and 2x shakes - she has around 25lb to lose any help would be great

A trainer at the gym usually = idiot.

The greatest thing I do to motivate myself is train with my husband. We train together at least twice a week and love it. If you enjoy training with your spouse then keep on. Way more positive than negative will come from it.

thanks for your response - do you think the heavy lifting will hinder fat loss - should she be doing supersets etc at a quicker pace ?

My hubby and I train on the exact same program. Training heavy will not hinder her fat loss. Like you mentioned she is going to incorporate cardio. That and a clean nutrition plan will help burn the fat. At some time, I would also include a fat burner. Give NTBM Forged Burner a try.

her current meal plan is as follows

8.30 60gm oats 1 scoop of whey
11pm 1 scoop of whey
1.30pm tuna /chicken salad on 2 slices wholewheat bread with small amount of low fat mayo
330pm 1 scoop whey
6pm 100 gm lean meat and around 50 gm rice
9pm 100ml of egg whites scrambled

on training days her pwo shake is 1 scoop of whey and 1 scoop of maltodextrin- this often replaces her afternoon whey
she is going to start by adding 20 minutes of cardio after her weight and then eventually morning cardio on empty stomach

does all this sound ok - i am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to routines/diets for guys but i have limited experience on these areas for females - any help on this would be great

does she not eat any vegetables? Everything she eats is white or brown. I plugged the numbers in fitday, and she is getting 1144 cals, and her vitamin/mineral intake on this is woeful. If she is starving herself, her body will hold on to the fat, plain and simple. Can she join and post up her stats, height, weight, etc.?

Agreed..sure doesn't look like a lot of calories, especially with the training. What are her stats?

sorry - forgot to add that she has salads with her dinner and we always have green veg with evening meal - trying to get her to join here but she more interested in facebook lol- her stats are 5ft 2 inch and 150lb very muscular from our heavy training . before we hd our children she was quite lean at around 125lb this is where she wishes to return to - she is 30 years old

hi everybody i am angela (sparkants Wife ) i am grateful for all the help so far but would really like some help with the diet side of things - like ant said previously he is an experienced bodybuilder but not very experienced when it comes to helping ladys on the subject

I'd say to not train the same only because you have different goals....other than that...someone else can help dial in the diet better than me

Im a bit permissive with diet :)
