Real way to get big and strong?

Im 20 years old and i've been working out this summer. Im about 6 feet tall and lean naturally.

I have started going to the gym and doing Olympic lifting but I sometimes feel that the OL isnt enough. I dont feel satisfied or that i even worked out hard enough. Also i am eating right, healthy foods, nothin junk, lots of protien, you name it.

A friend told me that i need to lift heavy weights, (Well thats Obvious) But what does he mean. How would i know what to do? What kind of exercises? How much? or how many sets?

Does anyone know proper set exercises to get big?
 
id recommnend getting a copy of "Starting strength" there are lots of ways to get big and strong and that book/program will give you a good step by step template to follow.
 
you gotta do all the big oly lifts but supplement them with smaller lifts. like on a back/bi day i'd do deads, pull ups, bent over db rows, maybe some face pulls, and end it with a few sets of biceps
 
diet is gonna get you big bro.... lifting isn't even half the battle; once you fix your diet, that's when you'll start seeing gains. get on a program with the compound lifts like Rippetoes 3x5 (check itt out).... compound lifts work multiple muscles at once... for example, the deadlift works your hamstrings, quads, abs, traps, lower/upper back, and even more muscles. Compare that to a bicep curl which only works your biceps.... not saying bicep curls are useless; they do have their place. However, since you're just beginning, focus on the core compound lifts and eat well and you will be well on your way.
 
NIce thanks guys, ALong with getting big i wan the muscles to be harden. I've been reading about Muscle Confusion and lifting heavy to get big and also lifting light with more reps to get it harder.
What do yall think?
