Problems with reverse wrist curls

I'm finding it really difficult to do reverse wrist curls, with either a barbell or dumbbell. Regular wrist curls are no problem, but with reverse wrist curls I'm finding it almost impossible to get good form and hot the weight properly. Any suggestions? This is driving me crazy...! :worried:

Personally, I don't do reverse wrist curls. Have you ever done reverse-grip regular curls? To me, they hit the top of the forearm a lot better.

Thanks for the incredibly fast reply, gt! You think there's no need to bother with reverse wrist curls if I'm doing reverse curls? I do reverse curls and get on fine with them...maybe I just just drop the reverse wrist curls from my routine? Thanks for the advice, bro.

I think if you're doing regular reverse curls, then reverse wrist curls are unnecessary. I also think they're awkward as hell. I think straight wrist curls and reverse curls are sufficient. Especially since forearms tend to get a lot of work from pulling excercises anyway. So I'd say go ahead and drop them.

How much weight do you use? And do you use dumbbells or some sort of bar?...like gymtime alluded to, there is no need to do them consistently, but I think once in a while its a good way to put direct emphasis on the upper forearm area without shifting any liability to the lower bicep. If its possible, i'd say go lighter....it is very awkward though...it takes time for muscles to get use to certain movements though.

There are two things I can think of doing to increase the effectiveness of reverse wrist curls: 1) Perform them on a bench with your forearms at a slight incline. 2) Use an ez curl bar to slightly supinate your palms and provide less side to side tortion than an olympic bar.

you mean that the weight tilts one way right? weel keep you grip all the way to the outside of the DB..that means for the right hand all the way to the right..and the left hand all the way ot the left.

for forearms.. use the old weight hanging from a broom handle.. with your arms straight out..roll it up one way and then roll it back down... do it as mant times as you can before you stop.... your forearms will burn like hell

Ah, wrist rollers. Forgot about them. Excellent forearm excercise. Problem is that you have to make your own apparatus as most gyms don't have them.

I do reverse wrist curls and I am seeing results with those. I can barely curl JUST the bar up and the range of motion is very short. I guess I may be the only one getting results with this exercise. awesome exercise.
