Peak week

Anybody have any tips/ advice ideas? My coach isn't sure how he is going to try to peak me yet. I'm pretty carb sensitive and bloat pretty easily. We are thinking depleting sun-wed then starting carb loading Thursday at around 300g a day of oats and sweet potatoes. same friday then having a steak and sweet pot the last meal Friday night and maybe pancakes sat morning and a steak and pot for lunch after pre judging. Snacking on rice cakes through the day sat. As far as water we are doing 3 gal sun-wed. Then half a gal thurs, around 16 oz Friday and pretty much none sat. Any options?

That plan doesn't sound too bad, and similar to what i did, but there are some minor things I would change. Pancakes Saturday morning is a good idea (I did waffles), just watch the syrup. It's easy to over carb with all that sugar. The last thing you want to do is spill over on contest day...especially since you are carb sensitive. It's harder to do without water, but can be done.

I would leave the water in longer as well. I wouldn't cut water back much until Friday. I would do a gallon on Thursday with a half gallon on Friday, cutting off around 6 PM. Also make sure that last meal with steak is after you cut the water. All the sodium in the steak will make you hold water if you are still taking water in. Without water it's fine. Sodium should start to be lowered significantly starting Wednesday also in my opinion. Don't cut it completely, because it can really flatten you out, but you shouldn't be adding sodium to anything from then on. You will get plenty from food in its natural state. Watch spices, sauces, and things similar that can have high sodium content

Good luck with the show bud. Let us know how it goes!

^^I was hoping you'd chime in! ;)

I know I'm a broken record but I'd write it all down too....peaking is so individual so I'd keep track of how you respond after x number of carbs, etc...especially if you compete again, it'll be good info to have.

Good luck! Enjoy the moment and no matter what the outcome, celebrate the fact that you got up there! That is a huge accomplishment. :)

And since I'm bored at work...the best piece of advice I got was this....It will be very tempting, once you get backstage, to compare yourself to everyone else and that can potentially psyche you out. It did me anyway, my first show. I wanted to pack up and leave 5 mins after getting backstage. Keep your focus on yourself and just remember that even by stepping on stage, you've accomplished more than so many people out there. We really compete with ourselves to bring our best package forward and if you happen to kick ass in the meantime and place....even better!

Ok..soap box advice over. ;)

I haven't put any spice or sauce on anything in 3 weeks. I just eat baked tilapia asparagus and red peppers 4 meals and egg whites spinach and red peppers the other 2 meals. Oats in meal 1 and sweet pot meal 2. The only thing I eat with much sodium at all is the egg whites and they get cut out Monday.

That sounds great. You have sodium covered well it looks like. Generally a higher sodium, higher fat meal is rec, mended the night before the show to help fill you out. That is why the steak will do great for that night.

If you get a chance, throw up so e updated pics. I'm very curious in your condition at this point. I re,e,her you tightening up well, and looking well on your way in your last set.

^That is very good advice as well. It's easy to second guess yourself once you get backstage and see everyone else. It's human nature. I did it, and I'm sure just about everyone goes through it to some degree. The main thing is to have fun, and do your best, no matter the outcome. Everyone likes winning, but The real competition is with yourself anyways. If you go in with the best condition of your life, you already won by bringing your best package. Enjoy the experience! Good luck!

Thanks guys. That is really good advice. Ill try to keep that in mind. I'm starting to get excited. I'm pretty flat right now but I guess I'm supposed to be. I meet with my coach tomorrow. Ill post some pics tomorrow night. I can't wait to see how my body changes the last few days.

Is tomorrow the big day?? How are you doing??

Yo finished 2nd in my class. I was a little disappointed. We all thought I took the class but oh well. The only pic I have right now is one from right before I went on stage. View attachment 111683
I had a blast. Can't wait to do another one. I loved everything about the whole weekend. The atmosphere, all the competitors, the venue, the food. It was awesome
