First off I am going to post what my running schedule has been like so far if anyone wants to take a look at it and critique. But I would like to ask this question, Would it help speed up my endurance if I ran twice a day??? If I were to do this I wouldnt run two days strait, I would just run every other day throughout the whole week. Anyone think this would work??? I know it may be catabolic as far as building muscle but Im not too worried about that. As soon as I get my run capacity where I want it I will back off and just maintain and then worry about regaining lost muscle, hell Im only doing enough lifting to maintain(if that) what I can. Anyway here is what I have done so far.
Week 1
Mon- .5mile run
Wed- 1 mile run
Fri- .75 mile run
Week 2
Mon-.75 mile run
Wed- 1.25 miles run
Fri- 1 mile run
Week 3
Mon- 1400 meter interval sprint/jog-I start with a 200meter jog and go into a 100 meter sprint and I continue to jog 200 meters and sprint 100 meters for 1400 meters in total. That breaks down into 4x100 meter sprints and 5x200 meters in jogging. I always start with a 200m jog and end on a 200m jog.
Wed- 1700 meter intervals- 5x100m in sprints, 6x200m in jogging
Fri- 2000 meter intervals-6x100m in sprints, 6x200m in jogging
Week 4
Sun-2300 meter intervals-7x100m in sprints, 8x200m in jogging
Mon- 1.5 mile run
So as you can see I did 6 regular running sessions then did 4 interval sprint/jog sessions and now I am back to standard running again. I think the intervals helped my speed a lot as far as my run times because looking back at my times on all of these runs I ran the 1.5 miles today a little over one minute faster than I ran the 1.25 miles in week 2 and I checked my time when I hit the mile mark today and I was about 2 minutes faster than when I ran the mile in week 2, and hell I was pacing for half a mile longer. The only thing is I still seemed to get just as out of breath as I always do, WTF??? Anyway sorry for all the long posts. Anyone have any thoughts on running twice a day??? I was thinking of running the schedule I had layed out earlier in this post but instead of doing it on back to back days just split it up and run every other day and then picking a smaller distance to run for the second run of the day and gradually increase it. I thought maybe this increase in running would help my run capacity.
