Need help with still legged deads

OK, by the name, it says stiff legs. My trainer at the gym says do it with stiff legs. I say that makes sense. I raed however that you should keep a slight bend.
Now here lies my prob
1) If I bend, my hams dont get blasted and I feel them half as much. Note that my bend is very slight.
2) If I dont bend, my right knee feels like its gonna pop out. Its been hurt from squats or running, one of the two.

What to do ?
 
I always keep a slight bend in my knees, like you hurt my knees doing squats years ago. I would never tell someone to lock their knees out doing lifts, too big a chance for an injury.
 
keep a slight bend in the knees (20 degrees), and concentrate on sticking your ass back when going down... go until your back is flat, no lower... (you can straighten your legs on the way up)

= romaining deadlifts, the ham/glute blaster
 
i always do them with a bend. i see too many people do them straight legged AND rounding their back. i bend down til i feel a stretch, keeping my back flat, then go a bit further and stand straight up. last part of it is to squeeze the glutes hard at the top. i have phased out str legs for a more romanian style, just because its a stronger movement and i can go heavier.
 
You can still blast your hams with a slight bend, long as you watch your form. Locking your knees is a disaster waiting to happen, either to your knees or back.
 
thanks, its what i thought. none of the trainers at my gym look muscular, so i doubt they have any first hand exp. on this. except for this huge 7foot black monster that is pissed off at me for not following his regimen.

HAHA BLOOD DRINKER THATS hilarious bro...Im implementing these now into my workout also...Im going all out with the still, regular deads, and squats now! Time for gains man!BTW, how haveyou been doing with these?
 
I use the stiff leg deads to hit my lower back. So in this case i keep my knees locked. I do 12 - 15 reps, so i am not doing massive weight.
